There has been a lot[1] of conjecture and rampant rumors since President Trump unexpectantly fired FBI Director James Comey yesterday. White House intrigue fascinates the masses evidently. Comey himself is said to have thought the firing was a joke when he saw it on a monitor while in Los Angeles. It certainly didn’t help[2] that just hours after Comey was fired, he was offered a job by… wait for it… WikiLeaks. Depending on your viewpoint, that would be an offering by Russia or Hillary Clinton. Take your pick.
It is also being said[3] that Trump is upset that Comey would not publicly state that there were no links between the Trump administration and Russia, according to a source inside the White House. Now, here is where I think some of the scuttlebutt is going off the rails… in another Daily Caller post entitled: “Trump’s DOJ: Comey Should Be Fired For Being Unfair To Hillary[4],” I think that the headline is misleading. I believe that Trump let Comey go because he massively botched the investigation into Clinton’s email scandal and tried to play both sides of the aisle, pissing everyone off. He made the FBI look bad and that is unforgivable. Word has it as well that his subordinates were terrified of him.

From The Daily Caller:
Donald Trump has broken his silence after he fired FBI Director James Comey more than 12 hours ago, citing the way he handled the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server.
On Twitter Wednesday, the president said Comey will be replaced by someone “who will do a far better job” and will bring back “spirit and prestige” to the FBI.
“The Democrats have said some of the worst things about James Comey, including the fact that he should be fired, but now they play so sad!”
“James Comey will be replaced by someone who will do a far better job, bringing back the spirit and prestige of the FBI.”
“Comey lost the confidence of almost everyone in Washington, Republican and Democrat alike. When things calm down, they will be thanking me!”
Trump also linked to a tweet from Matt Drudge’s account about the 10 biggest scandals while Comey was in charge.
Trump did not make any public statements after Comey’s firing Tuesday night, with the except of a lone tweet where he mocked Sen. Chuck Schumer.
“I cannot defend the Director’s handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clinton’s emails, and I do not understand his refusal to accept the nearly universal judgment that he was mistaken,” Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein wrote in a letter to his boss, Jeff Sessions. I think that ‘judgment’ was actually that Clinton was guilty, not that everyone found her not guilty. “While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the bureau,” Trump said in a letter to Comey that was dated Tuesday.
In the end, Comey far overstepped his role as FBI Director. He acted as though he were the Attorney General and decided that Clinton and Abedin were not guilty by lack of intent. He also gave immunity out like candy and botched numerous other cases. I have said for a long time that Comey should be removed as Director of the FBI because he was far too political. Whatever the reason President Trump really has, he did the right thing yesterday. I just wish it had been done months ago.

Cryin' Chuck Schumer stated recently, "I do not have confidence in him (James Comey) any longer." Then acts so indignant. #draintheswamp[11]
