Trump Chum Renee Ellmers Is Crushed in Primary

As mentioned earlier, the first congresscritter to endorse Donald Trump was liberal RINO Renee Ellmers. As a reward for her obeisance, Trump backed her heavily, even recording a robocall for her primary fight against conservatives, despite her radical open borders history contrasting sharply with the immigration rhetoric he has used to rally his supporters. Now the primary results are in:

[Trump’s] endorsement went over like a fart in church on Tuesday evening as outraged North Carolina voters took to the polls and ousted Ellmers in a stunning fashion — she got crushed — and it’s not even close.

In the 2nd Congressional District in North Carolina, Renee Ellmers, a three-term incumbent who was elected as a Tea Party darling, but quickly abandoned her principles, was defeated by another incumbent, Rep. George Holding , who argued to voters that he was more conservative that Ellmers.

According to the Associated Press, George Holding captured 52 percent of the vote, while Ellmers and Greg Bannon were in a virtual tie at roughly 24 percent each with 64 percent of precincts reporting.

Let this be a lesson to others who sell out for a ride on the Trump Train. If you are going to back a coup, you had better be sure the coup succeeds. Otherwise you have no future.
