WWE Commentator Tells Americans Trump’s CNN Tweet is ‘Pretty Cool’

Journalists in the mainstream media rallied around CNN after Donald Trump tweeted out a doctored video of himself wrestling a figure with CNN’s logo photoshopped onto its head. But not everyone was offended by the tweet. The WWE commentator who can be heard in the background had nothing but good things to say.

Jerry “The King” Lawler was heard in the clip and far from being angered by it, he was thrilled. In a podcast, he said, “To me, it was pretty cool, no matter who the President is. It’s the President of the United States and they put out a tweet and you’re in it. I mean, c’mon! There’s not many people that can say that happened to them, so I just thought was kinda cool.” He also said that people needed to let go of being offended by it.

“Everyone just needs to lighten up. That was a funny tweet,” he said. “You gotta admit, whether you like Donald Trump or whatever, it was the President of the United States putting out a funny tweet. C’mon, lighten up. What is wrong with that?”

He also spoke up on Twitter, retweeting Trump’s tweet and again, calling it “pretty cool”:

He also retweeted a message from a follower who recognized Lawler’s voice:

Lawler’s reaction is perhaps not surprising; he was open about his support for Trump even during the primaries, tweeting out support as early as February of 2016:

Maybe some people have lost their sense of humor completely, but at least some people can still get the joke!
