Aw. Obama Says He Didn’t Market His Vastly Unpopular Legislation Enough
Written By : William Teach

Poor baby. If only he had been able to spend more time talking about how great his mostly outsourced legislation, people would love it. Sniffle

President Barack Obama told a friendly backyard gathering on Thursday that he was so focused on getting the policy right on helping the economy recover that he didn’t devote enough energy to advertising the benefits.

Asked about the negative perception many Americans have about signature legislation of his first two years in office, Obama said opponents of reform fought hard against it and he could have done more to sell it.

Right. Because we weren’t treated to daily discourse from Obama, Democrats, and their minions, including the media. As I write this, Andy Griffin is on my TV yet again telling me how great the ObamaCare legislation is.

With provisions of the reform bill starting to take effect, people now can see the benefits for themselves and therefore understand it better, he said.

And that’s why we don’t like it.

Obama said the stimulus bill, officially titled the Recovery Act, comprises provisions that people like — such as tax cuts, infrastructure development and clean energy investments.

Yeah, those “tax cuts” which most people didn’t know about because they were a simple change to the withholding, and did…..nothing to help the economy. Jobs that weren’t shovel ready, ended up being temporary, didn’t help white collar workers, and didn’t help the economy. And those clean energy investments which are a failure and …… didn’t put people back to work.

“I think that one of the challenges we had two years ago was we had to move so fast, we were in such emergency mode, that it was very difficult for us to spend a lot of time doing victory laps and advertising exactly what we were doing, because we had to move on to the next thing,” Obama said. “And I take some responsibility for that.”

Perhaps you should have slowed down to think about what you were doing, Barry, then you might have gotten the legislation right, instead of slapping on hard left legislative ideas that have failed again and again. It is rather scary to think about people who have a vastly far left view, quite a few with no real world executive or even work experience, people who have been in academia or government for most or all of their lives, in “emergency mode,” without a clue what they are really doing in the Real World.

The attitude was to get the policy right, “and we did not always think about making sure we were advertising properly what was going on,” Obama continued.

So, he failed on both accounts, at least in terms of what was best for America. That could be the reason that 64% believe America is headed down the wrong track, why Obama’s disapproval rating hasn’t dipped below 50% for over a year, “47% of consumers say their personal finances are getting worse,” and Democrats are looking to get blown out in House and gubernatorial races very soon.

Oh my GOD but Obama is such an egotist. Even when he admits his spectacular failures he has to add an addendum about how awesome he is.

    Barry’s recipe for success:

    1. Talk A LOT
    2. ?????
    3. Success!!Eleventy!

  • Zimmy Bob

It’s pretty hard for the president to compete against a right wing noise machine that calls itself a news station, yet the very same station testified in court that it was not obligated to be factual. You cons were intent on seeing Obama fail because his success will be the end of your philosophy once and for all.

You right wing blow hards are the suckers here. Unpatriotic un-American ignorant blowhards that you are, duped when a network calls itself fair and balanced.

    • http://www.patriotpost.com bthewolf

Keep barking moonbat, I saw nothing factual in your post.

BTW I don’t watch Fox News.

    • StanW

      Waaaaaaaaaa!

Poor widdle Obama. Has all the major alphabet newsstations in his pocket and can’t “compete” against Fox.

Go away little boy, Adults are talking here.

      • Soldout

And you, pizza boy, believe fox is fair and balanced. This proves you to be about as sensible as your TeaBircher candidates.

        • StanW

And who are you talking to, Troll?

    • Big_mo_stl

Really? I never watch or read Fox. Yet you know where I get my info from. Cute.

The president doesn’t/didn’t have a marketing problem with his Obamacare monstrosity. He had/has a CONTENT problem. Meaning, no amount of marketing could make this turd taste any better.

      • Soldout

Like I said, he’s up against the right wing noise machine. You’re naturally ignorant it seems and you don’t need Fox to make you any stupider.

As for the president, it’s hard to be a saint in the city.

        • gfchicago

No President Obama-bin-Lying is nothing but an arrogant narcissistic little prick that doesn’t give a damn about the American people. Everything is about him, his next golf game, his next fancy dinner at the White House, his next fancy vacation, it’s all about him. He’s strictly in it for the power of running other peoples lives. He’s the next Hugo Chavez, except perhaps a tad bit better looking.

He’s set race relations back 3 generations, he’s promoting class warfare and not doing a damn thing to get this country back on track.

    • Proud Infidel

Now, now little Zimmy, look at a couple of facts.
1)FOX NEWS is outnumbered by the other networks espousing liberalism, yet they succeed in a *GASP* free marketplace.
2)Increased government intrusion and control of the citizens’ lives is a recipe for disaster, just look at the former USSR.
3)DISSENT *IS* Patriotism at its finest, isn’t that what you libs said when you cussed at GW Bush?
4)Barack HUSSEIN Obama and the current Congress spent more on the Stimulus Act alone than was spent on the entire Iraq War.

Those are facts, now take your meds and wash it down with the Kool-Aid your mommy made you!

      You Lose.
      Try again.
      Try harder.

      • Soldout

Fox lies and you buy it. Fox testified in court it is not obligated to report the truth. This proves you are a sucker.

Just because something sells does not make it healthy or valid. For examples see McDonalds or soda pop, or the Iraq war.

Increased government control of corporations improves things for everyone, for examples see France or Italy or Australia.

There’s dissent, and then there’s stupidity. Calling Obama a socialist is the latter.

The costs of the Iraq war are still being accumulated. The stimulus kept us from falling into a depression. The Iraq war did nothing to benefit the citizens of the US.

Just making a big deal of Obama’s middle name proves you have the intelligence of a two year old.

        You. Fail.

        • http://www.patriotpost.com bthewolf

“The stimulus kept us from falling into a depression.”

          PROVE IT!!!

So Petey, you never did answer the question I asked of you several months ago. I’m still very curious about how you reconcile in your mind a vision of what you seem to think of as utopia but in which you treat about half of the people dismissively with hostility, attacks and name-calling. And yet, you claim it’s a better world for all. Are we to believe that a world run by your ilk who, as you do, routinely engage in abusive name-calling, demonising, slanders, distortions and such, is somehow a better place in which to live, work and raise a family?

Frankly, if that kind of behaviour is acceptable in the future you wish for us all – I’m afraid I’ll have to respectfully decline to participate in such a future.

As before Petey/zimmy/Jacqui/etc., I’m asking out of a deep and abiding curiosity, because I really can’t understand how a future which, according to you, is supposed to be better for me has to come at such a dear price, e.g. having to alter my beliefs, my actions and my freedoms. It’s a contradiction in terms that I’d really like to understand.

      Can you explain it?

      • Soldout

If I am dismissive of your side it is *only* after I encounter your blow back from honest comments I make. Yours is the side that claims it wants to take the country “back,” so you obviously feel the majority that elected Obama is illegitimate.

Want to chat? I’ll be happy to email you my phone number and we can discuss this person to person. I’m sure this will help you to understand a rational alternative perspective to your own.

        • gfchicago

Yours is the side that claims it wants to take the country “back,” so you obviously feel the majority that elected Obama is illegitimate.

No not illegitimate, just misguided and ill informed. That idiot Obama-bin-Lying talks in circles and to folks that don’t follow politics a great deal he just confuses them, plus promising them the world and not delivering on a damn thing and making things worse than they were to begin with.

        • http://conservativebootcamp.com Martin Hale

If I am dismissive of your side it is *only* after I encounter your blow back from honest comments I make.

I thought so. I thought you might ascribe the responsibility for your actions to other people. I said as much a few months ago when I first asked this question of you. I doubted you’d have the depth of character needed to address your actions at an absolute level. And now you’ve confirmed it nicely for me. Thanks. Actions always speak louder than words and yours spoke volumes to me, Jacqui.

By the way, it’s interesting to hear you say that you only get verbally abusive with people because they did it to you first. It’s interesting because that stands in direct opposition to how your first persona at this site, Jack Schite, acted. In case you’ve forgotten, Jack Schite was a foul-mouthed, name-caller right off the bat without anyone ever responding to it. So I guess that whole “I only do it because they do it to me”, business is really just a lie. Maybe it’s a public lie you tell others, or maybe it’s a private lie you tell yourself, I don’t know. But whichever it is, it’s still a lie, zimmy. But, please, don’t be offended by my saying that, Petey. I don’t think any less of you for hiding behind a lie.

…so you obviously feel the majority that elected Obama is illegitimate.

So you can read minds, now? Let me ask, Cliffie, what am I thinking now? How about now? And now? Tell me, how is it that you know that’s what I think about Mr. Obama, his administration and the electorate which elected him? And more importantly, could you possibly be wrong about that?

Here’s an observation for you, Petey – maybe the fact that you so often base your comments on your own fantasies, biases, assumptions and stereotypes about what other people think, rather than asking questions which might help you learn what they actually think, is a large part of the reason you come across with such dismissive hostility.

It’s no wonder to me at all why you successfully draw the hostility out of the people with whom you interact. After all, you seem to be content to treat them according to your own internal stereotypes, assumptions, biases and fantasies about them, and I’d be willing to bet that a lot of people don’t like being treated like that.

Want to chat? I’ll be happy to email you my phone number and we can discuss this person to person.

Jacqui, have I ever hinted or suggested that I wanted to talk with you? Because I don’t feel any desire to. Why would I want to talk with a person who I’ve been watching being verbally abusive of others for most a year? What’s my motivation to want to do that? I’m not interested in changing your mind on political issues because I don’t really care what you think, nor am I interested in befriending you since you strike me as a potentially scurrilous person, and I sincerely doubt that you possess such deep insights about life that it would be important for me to glean them from you. So I’m not sure why I’d want to reach out to you.

The reason I initiated this line of inquiry was for me to understand the apparent gap between the vision of liberal utopia you talk about and the shabby treatment you show to all conservatives. You’ve provided an answer, so what else is there to say? I’ve already heard your “it’s not me, it’s them” defence, so is there anything else to learn here? I don’t think so.

Anything further you have to say, you can reduce to writing – you are a hotshot communications grad, after all – and post it here.

    • Redriverted

Yeah, being president and making decisions is hard. But he would have known this if he had any kind of life experience.

Huh. Wasn’t it only a few years ago when liberals said it was wrong to question other people’s patriotism?

Funny how that changes when there’s a Democrat in the White House.

When liberals opposed the Iraq fiasco you called us unpatriotic. Dissent is not unpatriotic.

When conservatives opposed health care reform, they called Obama socialist, Marxist, incapable, foreign. None of these claims are patriotic, they are rhetorical claptrap. Patriotic dissent offers alternatives other than maintain the status quo or curtail lawsuits. Conservatives wanted to make health care reform Obama’s Waterloo (your words). That’s about as unpatriotic as you can get, where the country’s success is unimportant to you compared to trying to turn Obama into a failure.

Boy you seem to have selective memories, the exact same things was said of President Bush for 8 solid years, but yet it was patriotic decedent according to the Hildabeast and the rest of you looney libs to slam President Bush 24/7, 365 days a year, now the shoe is on the other foot and you guys are howling. Tough titty deal with it.

So Obama is a failure because people are still allowed to question him?

No doubt that’s why the USSR was a such a smashing success: they had the same basic political philosophy but didn’t have to deal with contrary views so they were able to get a lot more done.

Well, to make Barrry and Zimmy happy, I’ll do my part for bipartisanship and post the following review of Obamacare’s benefits:

    1. If you’ve never seen Logan’s Run, Obamacare will give you the Cliff’s Notes LIVE.
    2. You won’t have to deal with those pesky Canadians coming here to get medical treatment.
    3. Waiting for medical care is a wonderful opportunity to catch up on hobbies like reading, macrame, etc.
    4. You won’t have to deal with the grandparents prattling on about how things were when they were young…or much of anything.
    5. You’ll get to see first-hand how medical professionals in the third world improvise around all those luxuries, like antiseptic, pain killers, modern medical techniques.
    6. THE BLUE PILL

Obama is like a bad version of the Old Spice Guy…

Obama: I’d like to take a break from talking about me…to talk about me. Look at the economy, now back at me. Why is the economy bad? Because we haven’t talked about me enough. We shouldn’t be talking about the economy. We should be talking about me talking about the economy. Why? Because the economy will only get better if we talk about me talking about the economy.

Look at the economy again, now back at me. Is it bad? No. Do you think it’s bad? Yes. Why? Because there hasn’t been enough talk about me. How do we fix it? Talk more about me.

    I’m on a unicorn.

    (whistle)

It’s gotten to the point when I see the poser President Obama-bin-Lying on tv, I either flip the channel or if I have enough buffer on the DVR, I fast forward through the clips of him.

I think the problem was that all he did was market it. Just like the rest of his administration it was all hype and PR and no substance.

They talked endlessly about how great it would be, but then left the actual writing up to lobbyists and lawyers and never bothered to read the thing.

Typical d-crat socialist bs: It’s NOT the horrifically BAD socialist ideology that people hate, its just the way it’s presented!!!!!

Let’s all hope that the loonies continue down their path of denial that Americans have total and complete DISGUST AND REVULSION WITH THE D-CRAT SOCIALIST POLICIES, THEIR ACTIONS, THEIR PROGRAMS, THEIR SLEAZY, SLIMY AMERICA-HATING LEADERS (CRAZY PELOSI, DIRTY HARRY and THEIR TELEPROMPTER-READING FIGUREHEAD.), THEIR RECKLESS SPENDING, THEIR TOTAL DISREGARD AND CONTEMPT FOR THE VIEWS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, AND ON, AND ON, AND ON.

When the d-crat socialists are thrown out of power in Nov 2010 (and the rest in Nov 2012) all REAL Americans will work together to correct the horrific damage done to our economy and society by these lunatic-left extremists.
