Newt Gingrich Endorses Socialized Medicine

Anyone who would snuggle on a couch with Nancy Pelosi to promote the global warming hoax is either a moron or an authoritarian statist. Newt Gingrich confirms that he is the latter:

Newt Gingrich’s appearance on “Meet the Press” [yesterday] could leave some wondering which party’s nomination he is running for. The former speaker had some harsh words for Paul Ryan’s (and by extension, nearly every House Republican’s) plan to reform Medicare, calling it “radical.”

“I don’t think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering,” he said when asked about Ryan’s plan to transition to a “premium support” model for Medicare. “I don’t think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.”

As far as an alternative, Gingrich trotted out the same appeal employed by Obama/Reid/Pelosi — for a “national conversation” on how to “improve” Medicare, and promised to eliminate ‘waste, fraud and abuse,’ etc.

Not helpful, Newt — unless you’re running as John McLame II, and your purpose is to be a stooge to facilitate Obama’s reelection.

Unnoticed by Beltway bozos like Gingrich, the Tea Party movement proves there is a whole country out here that has had enough government bloat. We’ve also had enough of liberal Democrats mouthing occasional conservative platitudes and then running as Republicans.

It gets worse:

Gingrich also reiterated his previous support for a “variation of the individual mandate” for health care. “I believe all of us — and this is going to be a big debate — I believe all of us have a responsibility to help pay for health care,” he said, insisting there is “a way to do it that make most libertarians relatively happy.”

This small-l libertarian won’t be happy until Newt and his like, with their Marxist assumption that they have a right to force some to pay for goods and services for others — i.e., to enslave them — have been hounded out of the public arena.

If the Republican Party is not a legitimate opposition party, but just a conjoined twin of the Democrats, voters will find an alternative. Remember the Whigs? People won’t remember the GOP either if it nominates another squishy oligarchical collectivist of the McCain/Gingrich/Romney stripe.
