No More Using California Welfare Cards to Buy “Medical” Marijuana

It’s going to take a little more than this[1] to keep California from being pulled into bankruptcy by the ever-growing entitlement class:

Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneger says welfare recipients can no longer use state-issued debit cards at medical marijuana shops, psychics and other businesses whose services have been deemed “inconsistent with the intent” of the program.

But I thought medical marijuana was medicine!

Other businesses affected by the ban include bail bond establishments, bingo halls, cruise ships and tattoo parlors.

This follows up on a ban on using the welfare cards at casino ATMs. At least those who have not escaped California and are still in a position to work for a living know where their money has been going.

Fortunately for freeloaders, the return of Governor Moonbeam will put an end to the Governator’s relative stinginess.
