The Feminist Left’s Dramatic Reaction to Wonkette’s Mockery of Trig Palin

Did I say “dramatic”? I meant “nonexistent”:

  • National Organization for Women: chirp chirp chirp
  • Ms. Magazine: chirp chirp chirp
  • Feministing: chirp chirp chip
  • Feministe: chirp chirp chirp
  • Pandagon: chirp chirp chirp
  • Shakesville: chirp chirp chirp
  • Jezebel: chirp chirp chirp
  • The Frisky: chirp chirp chirp
  • Bitch Magazine: chirp chirp chirp

Seems like a lot of crickets have taken up residence in the feminist blogosphere.

As Kurt Schlichter notes at Big Journalism, a handful of liberal media figures joined conservatives in condemning Jack Stuef, the revolting Wonkette blogger who tried to pass off his cruel ridicule of three-year-old Trig Palin as satire. But I haven’t come across a single “progressive” feminist blogger willing to take Wonkette to task. Among feminist blogs, only Slate’s Double X addressed the issue–in a post written by Republican managing editor Rachael Larimore.

Obviously not every writer has the time or inclination to address the outrage du jour. Even bloggers have lives (some sadder than others). But when someone at a major liberal blog lashes out at a female politician by viciously mocking her special needs kid, it’s noteworthy that it doesn’t merit a single post from the self-appointed arbiters of what is and is not good for women.

The hypocrisy of the feminist Left doesn’t surprise me and this can’t be repeated enough: I couldn’t be any less interested in pressuring feminists into behaving like decent human beings. Their solidarity means jack.

Conservative women and their kids don’t need the support of fair-weather feminists who slam us as gender traitors and try their damnedest to disappear us from the discourse. We don’t need NOW to legitimize our causes with the same stamp of approval they give to abortion on demand, divisive identity politics, and perpetual victimhood. And Sarah Palin sure as hell doesn’t need them either.

But for as long as the feminist Left claims exclusive dominion over everything remotely woman-related, I’ll be there to call them out when they turn a blind eye to attacks on women by one of their own.:  They need to be exposed for the frauds they are.
