Obama = Weak UPDATED
Written By : Melissa Clouthier

President Obama signaled to the world that dictatorial regimes have carte blanc while struggling Democracies will be left to defend themselves. Today, on the 70th anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Poland, the President announced that there will be no defense shield in Europe. Poland, Europe, is on their own.

Russia is the same. It’s the United States that has changed. Well, that’s what President Obama promised, but it’s not good changes that he’s delivering.

Meanwhile, Venezuela signs agreements with China while building up militarily. And China is building up too:

“In fact, when considering the military-modernization programs of countries like China, we should be concerned less with their potential ability to challenge the US symmetrically — fighter to fighter or ship to ship — and more with their ability to disrupt our freedom of movement and narrow our strategic options,” Gates said in a speech to the Air Force Association.

“Investments in cyber and anti-satellite warfare, anti-air and anti-ship weaponry, and ballistic missiles could threaten America’s primary way to project power and help allies in the Pacific — in particular our forward air bases and carrier strike groups,” Gates said in National Harbor, Maryland.

The new threats meant long-range military aircraft would take on greater importance as the latest weaponry would “degrade the effectiveness of short-range fighters and put more of a premium on being able to strike from over the horizon — whatever form that capability might take,” he said.

Defense analysts have warned that the US military will soon lose its dominance on the high seas, in space and in cyberspace as China and other emerging powers obtain sophisticated weaponry and missiles.

Whether it is sending the wrong message to Iran, abandoning Honduras, abandoning Poland, putting tariffs on Chinese goods, or all the rest of it, President Obama signals weakness around the world.

And he wants to increase debt with health care at the time when America is drowning in debt. What happens when those debts are called in?

Why do Democrats like projecting and being weak on the world stage while dominating and enslaving average Americans with oppressive taxation? It’s like they don’t recognize an enemy when they see one.

UPDATED:

Kim Priestap has a must-read piece. She also says:

I believe Obama’s decision to abandon the missile defense systems in Poland and the Czech Republican is nearly as bad as Carter’s decision to abandon the Shah of Iran. Radical Islam grew as a result of Carter’s decision. A new Soviet style Putinian Russia will grow as a result of Obama’s decision.

Bookworm calls President Obama a “very bad man“:

“He’s a bad man. He’s a very, very bad man.”

That’s all I could think of when I read that today, on the 70th Anniversary of Poland’s invasion by the Nazis, Barack Obama made the decision to leave Poland and the Czech Republic vulnerable to Putin’s tender ministrations. The former Soviet Union may be in demographic decline, but that clearly hasn’t stopped Putin’s dreams of grandeur — and what better way to use up former military stock, regain your former imperial glory, and augment your dying population, than by engaging in a little empire building. Nor do I buy Obama’s claim that he’s just replacing a standing defense system with something more “agile.”

Don't you get it? We want to be liked! Being all strong and ready to fight off evil, in the process all but guaranteeing that the fighting will be unnecessary, makes evil people not like you. The pen is mightier than the sword! (well it is as long as you have a sword to back up the pen).

    /sarc off

Maybe the plan is to get the Euros on board with attacking Iran or letting the Israelis do it to stop the nuke program there. After all, this shield was supposed to protect them. Hope Obama is not also stopping the efforts to put shields up to protect us (which I think he will do next if he has not already done so). Liberals for some incomprehensible reason think that baring your throat at the enemy somehow will be interpreted as a sign of goodwill, and illicit a reciprocal effort. Maybe they where weaned with too much Sesame Street and Disney stuff to know that never works in the real world, and is likely to get you thought of as weak and attacked.

I hope he proposes to return the garrisons currently in Europe. We don't need to be there anymore, apparently. Let the Urps take care of them self. I am sure that there are lots of immigrants that would like to get army training, especially so those from ME states. That like sharia. I say no more.

I am confused now, under Bush many conservatives were saying that we should get out of Europe and let them handle their own foreign affairs, now they are pissed because we are letting Eurpoe handle their own foreign affairs?

No actually I am talking about this version:

I don't recall making any statement to contradict Secretary Gates.

As I said, the problem with this isn't the necessity of the shield itself (although see above for a fun scenario), but the way in which Obama unilaterally said "screw you" to several democratic allies, made no plans for continued cooperation, and extracted no concessions from Russia because of a weapons system.

I guess that's what happens when an inexperienced President puts a schoolteacher in charge of Arms Control and International Affairs.

    Mike,

You are full of falsehoods lately, we are still cooperationg with the Czech and Poles on many fronts.

Obama, however, said the United States will continue to work cooperatively with what he called "our close friends and allies." And Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed hope that his country could have a role in the redesigned U.S. system.

"There is a chance for strengthening Europe's security with special attention given to Poland," Tusk told reporters, adding: "I would not describe what is going on today as a defeat for Poland."

Opponents of the shield, such as Jan Tamas — an activist who had organized numerous protests — hailed Obama's decision.

"It is a big victory for the Czech Republic. We are happy that we will be able to continue to live in our beautiful country without the presence of foreign soldiers," he said.

And Mariusz Chmiel, a top official in the northern Poland region where the missiles would have been based, proclaimed himself "the happiest man in Poland" now that the plan has been shelved.

  • Mike_M

This isn’t even about missile defense, it’s about the shocking and callous way in which Obama just left these Eastern European democracies and allies out in the cold. A quick spin around english-language Czech and Polish news sites reveals what the MSM won’t: leaders in both countries are confused about US policy and this was a huge breach of trust by Obama.
Worse, this appears to be an open capitulation to Russia as there’s no evidence that Obama extracted any concessions or quid pro quos from Putin in exchange.
Obama seems hell-bent on repeating every mistake of the 1930s. From the New Deal that prolonged the Depression and sunk the US into debt, to selling out allies for the appeasement of dictators and strongmen. What’s he going to do for an encore, bring back hydrogen-filled airships?

  • Mike_M

"There is a chance for strengthening Europe's security with special attention given to Poland,"

Read: He has no idea what Obama is going to do next and is hoping for a favorable outcome. The Polish National Security minister called it a "defeat primarily of American long-distance thinking about the situation in this part of Europe."

But sure, some greasy hippie activist nobody in Poland thinks it's a great idea! It must be good! Iran and Russia agree.

This arms-build-up among Russia, Iran, Venezuela and North Korea all happened under BUSH. Not Obama, Bush.

They may be coming to fruition soon, but they didn't start in 2008.

And for all the posturing, threats of non-talking, and rhetoric, these countries went further & further in their arms build-up and intimidation of their neighbors.

A Polish missle shield intimidating the Russians? Or slowing Putin's power growth? WTF? Putin gained all of this power while Bush was deeply looking into his eyes.

Are you seriously going to claim that a system designed to intercept ballistic is a failure or no good because it can also handle long range missiles crthns? The THAAD system is designed to shoot down all kinds of ballistic missiles. WTF? Do me a favor. Stop prattling about technology and shit you do not have a clue about. This is still a system that was and continues to be ridiculed by the left because they thought this kind of stuff was impossible (talk about small minds). That’s why Obama killed it: the idiots saying “Star Wars”, the left’s supposedly derogatory name for missile defense systems, was a dumb and impossible idea, get another decade to perpetuate this idiotic lie. Even worse, do you think Iran doesn’t have plans for long range missiles? Especially when they get a nuclear weapon and can use it to keep Western Europe in check?

This stuff makes America weak. That’s why so many across the world were so happy with the Obama election. A weak America favors them.

“Even worse, do you think Iran doesn’t have plans for long range missiles? Especially when they get a nuclear weapon and can use it to keep Western Europe in check?”
Nukes and terrorism is Iran’s offensive doctrine, and they’re going to use it to great effect on Europe.
When Iran gives the signal one of these days, the Islamic radicals are going to boil out of the urban ghettos in Europe and start wreaking havoc (we’ve already seen the precursors with the Mohammed Toon Riots and Parisian Auto Cook-Offs).
When the governments move to put down the riots and terrorism, Iran will say something to the effect of: “ahem, we are the defender of all Muslims. Cease and desist or we nuke you.”
Then it comes down to a nuclear exchange, or ceding autonomy to Sharia Zones in Europe. Which do you think France and England will vote for?

  • http://wastingtimewithalex.com/ AlexinCT

Your reminder to them that Secretary of Defense Robert Gates (whom President Bush brought into his aministration to replace the bumbling Rumsfeld) had proclaimed his full support for the new plan took the air right out of their balloons.

Stop taking whatever drugs you are taking, because your stupid is not being stopped by it Hog. Gates will say whatever the Obama administration tells him to say. That’s his job. If not, he can resign. He doesn't seem inclined to do so as several incidents, ending with this one, seem to prove. Liberals might think that we conservatives are as stupid as you liberals are, unable to disagree with people that are supposed to be on our side when they are wrong, but that doesn’t make the above drivel any more relevant or right. Gates is taking his cue from the WH and he is basically allowing Obama to do more harm to our security.

The fact is that ballistic missile defense, like many other things liberals continue to pretend can’t be done (win in Iraq and so on), works. THAAD, Standard, and Patriot now do things that could not have been dreamed off 2 decades ago. If we had listened to you “progressives” – what a joke that name is, considering all you idiots do is drag us back to the same failed misery and stupidity that has murdered hundreds of millions and imprisoned billions in their own counties for over a damned century and continues to do so – we would be planting potatoes for the Soviets. As I already said: the efforts by the leftists twits to harm or kill these program is because they again end up with eggs on their face for being on the wrong side as it works.

Who are you going believe? Secretary Gates who pulled President Bush's fat out of the fire in Iraq after Cheney and Rumsfeld screwed that situation up or knee-jerk neo-cons?

Gates had as much to do with the victory in Iraq as Obama did. That honor goes to General Patraeus and his brilliant strategy. The same one democrats said would not work before it even started. Another thing your side tried hard to make fail. I do understand why idiots like you and crthns want to pretend it was Gates that somehow won Iraq, but that’s not flying when we have facts on our side.

Thanks for proving you are as stupid as you sound though.

This arms-build-up among Russia, Iran, Venezuela and North Korea all happened under BUSH. Not Obama, Bush.

Funny how it sped up even more when Obama took office though huh, Vega? Iran is still building its nuke and will get them under Obama. The only people losing their edge and even disarming under Obama, is us. That's going to work about as good as it did during the Carter years.

I laughed at that rant, Hoggo. Was it some attempt at satire? You trying to pretend you have a clue would be hilarious if it where not for the usual stupid.

The reason we have spend our bloods and treasure protecting these other countries is because American leaders – the real ones, not the community organizers – and military have always known that the if we left these idiots alone, we would be back sooner than later, and wasting even more blood and treasure to fix these people's screw ups. You are not under the illusion that the last decades of peace in Europe would have been sustained without us there are you? Frankly I would love to see the Russians rape the Europeans some more, the Germans to burn up the continent again, or the French to do the same – OK never mind that, those surrender monkeys can’t do anything right – but the fact that we would have to then go clean the mess up, is the only reason I have not advocated for that.

  • CoolCzech

I luv the way Neville Obama chose to betray the Czech and Polish peoples on the 70th anniversary of the Russian invasion of Poland. Nice touch, that.

Quite honestly, Neville Obama makes Jimmy Carter look like a particularly astute diplomat. Here he's gone and given the green light to Russian dominance in the Ukraine, Georgia, everywhere with the possible – I can only pray – exception of the Czechs and Poles (and then ONLY because his predecessor inducted them into NATO). And even THOSE two countries are now being sent the message that, really, they are not quite all THAT free of Moscow's "interests," after all.

So the sovereignty of over 100 million Europeans has been compromised. And for WHAT?

Moscow just told Barry to go F-Himself, they won't help him with Iran. And God knows Moscow is probably funneling money to the Taliban.

Barry… err, "Neville," is in WAY over his head and a real danger to us all.

  • http://wastingtimewithalex.com/ AlexinCT

No, Obama just told the folks in your area who are concerned about the big bad Russian to grow a pair and stop leaning on American taxpayers and American military blood to fight your battles for you.

Sounds exactly like what the last demcorat did when he condemned these same people to 5 decades of imprisonment under the "progressive" ideology of the Soviets right after WWII, Hoggo. No wonder you are so happy this is happening again…

    It is Working…

    Divert and Conquer:

    The Liberal Agenda for Decades

    Dear American,

Intelligence is brutal when calculated with intent. True intelligence manipulates itself into illiterate disguise. The diversions of this administration since January 20th have bounced conservatism into a frenzy of defense after defense leaving it exhausted.

The architected deconstruction and reconstruction of America is being preformed effortlessly without retribution through decades of diversion. The Presidency of Obama is the final stage of its evolution.

Barack Obama, not the architect, the Martyr of this systematic strategy in the first phase of the acquisition of America spent 2.3 trillion dollars of tax payer money acquiring control of the financial market. The result being an unconstitutional Government run banking system. Subservient banks now answer to a Czar reporting directly to the White House absent congressional oversight.

Currently 32 Czars act as the underbosses to the king. They have the ability to negotiate and write policy unlike the sixteen in the Bush administration. These Czars are the vital reality Democrats now rejoice in. When acquisitions are made the left of congress diverts public interest to controversial issues. The Czars, free of public scrutiny move forward agenda.

A second stimulus package was introduced when America begin to question the banking takeover and shortly after the Czar was named. Immediately this package created a new controversy diverting Americans from scrutiny. A quick 130 billion dollar acquisition of the automobile industry was offered as an alternative and America jumped to accept. Americans were relieved at the price tag and agreed quickly to avoid the 1 trillion dollar second stimulus proposal.

Unemployment numbers continued to rise and backlash from the Automobile Industry takeover begin as attention turned back to the first stimulus. After quickly injecting a liberal Supreme Court Justice the failsafe of this design was implemented. Healthcare, an age old debate that has no chance to succeed confirmed by a century of attempts was called up. Instantly it took the spot light. A full injection of conservative attention brought a nation to uproar. Just as quick quietly the Czars went back to work firming up their newly acquired industries.

A country baffled by these and other well thought out implemented strategies are twisted in confusion hanging on the ropes swinging at air. The “Big Picture” struggles to linger in the minds of Americans manipulated by the Obama system. They have been successfully diverted and conquered intentionally with every move.

At the cost of 880 billion dollars Healthcare may or may not be Obama’s intent. If desired its acquisition will be confirmed by a soon to come bill on Gun Control, Abortion, or any other issue big enough to divert and except the headline, “Congress makes a deal and passes healthcare”. Americans will learn the news coming home from their Abortion march on D.C. bringing the receipt of America to over 3.3 trillion dollars. At least we don’t come cheap, however the irony we are purchasing ourselves is baffling. If, however there are multiple smaller venues of control Obama seeks he will allow this current diversion to resonate till its last breath.

The fact is Obama is the ultimate diversion. He, the decided martyr will exhaust himself for those he has proven his allegiance to and whom secured his position. In the end he will be destroyed, however his once liberal then socialist party will have diverted and conquered enough agenda to now be the new dominant and powerful Communist party of the once United States of America.

Intelligence is brutal and conservatives with due diligence would be wise to respect it. They are not idiots. Quite the contrary, they have been planning this for decades. They have diverted and conquered the conservative movement into a reactive mob. Validated through the dumbing down of the young and impoverished, the acceptance and support of the radical, the delusion of minority and their rights, and in every quiet corner of America subtle evolution of the deconstruction of morality and character. A revolution has begun. It is not conservatism nor reform. It is the systematic deconstruction of America and it has been going on for decades. When will America wake up?

Both you and martinhale are mistaken about my motive for posting on RWN. I don't do it to change minds. Highly partisan political bloggers are not composed of people who are open to rational debate or having their minds changed. I don't do it to keep score. There is no designated unbiased RWN scorekeeper to perform that function.

I post on RWN because its easy and fun to fluster political ideologues who are more obsessed with attacking the opposition than they are in boosting their own positive aspects. The vast majority of RWN OP's and its responders focus their ideological energy on the negative by attacking the opposition. Fortunately for me, there almost always exists in the real world examples of both sides committing the same types of infractions for which negative focused political bloggers attack the opposition. That is what makes many RWN OP's and their supporters such easy marks to fluster. I can almost almost always find a real world example of when the other dog got kicked. The leftist blogs are just as vulnerable in that regard. I've actually tried it. Its not near as much fun. The liberal bloggers don't get their panties in as much of a knot as do conservative bloggers when I infuse the "whoose dog got kicked" game into their partisan negative attacks.
