Kiss Your Ass Goodbye
The philosophy of too many leftists was on display in the Colorado legislature this week, as a Democratic state representative plainly stated that women shouldn’t need guns to defend themselves from attackers and rapists.
In his own words:
“There are some gender inequities on college campuses.: This is true.: And universities have been faced with that situation for a long time.: It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, it’s why we have the whistles. Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at. And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble and when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop – pop a round at somebody.”
So apparently, Democratic State Representative Joe Salazar is afraid that if women are allowed to carry concealed weapons on college campuses in Colorado, they’re just going to freak out and shoot every male in sight.
Salazar issued a rather boilerplate “I’m sorry if anyone was offended” apology, but the ridiculousness of his argument stands.
If someone comes at you intent on rape and/or murder, a call box will not save you.
If someone comes at you intent on rape and/or murder, why would you think a “safe zone” would be safe?
If someone comes at you intent on rape and/or murder, how is a whistle going to save your life?
All of these things (except maybe for a “safe zone”) might be helpful for people who don’t want to carry a gun for self defense, taking the option away from women basically leaves them defenseless.: What should a woman do when approached by a rapist and there is no call box nearby?: What if there is no one close by to hear a whistle?
But most of all, why is it acceptable for the party that claims to be the champions of womens’ rights to promote legislation based on a philosophy that women should be rendered defenseless when faced with a physical attack?
During the debate over the Democrats’ health care bill, Democrats repeatedly said that the Republican position was that if people get sick, then they should just hope that they get better.
When it comes to gun control, the Democrats’ position seems to be that if you are faced with an attacker, you should blow your whistle, and kiss your ass goodbye.
In the court of public opinion, Republican officials cannot win. It’s a known fact, made more evident with each news
After reading transcripts of Obama’s recent campaign stump speeches and watching his interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, I am
