Watch Harry Reid Oppose Amnesty

To get an idea of how fast the Democrat Party has plunged into lunatic radicalism, keep in mind that as recently as 1993, even Harry Reid considered the USA a sovereign country with a right to control its borders from foreign incursion:

Today Reid bitterly opposes David Vitter’s attempt to close the insane loophole in immigration law that grants instant citizenship to anchor babies. However,

[Reid] introduced a bill on Aug. 4, 1993, the Immigration Stabilization Act of 1993 (S.1351), which would have closed the birthright citizenship loophole – exactly what Vitter is trying to do today.

Among many enforcement provisions in the 76 page legislation back in 1993 – most of which would be regarded as hateful and racist by the 2015 Harry Reid – is a fix of birthright citizenship. In Title X of the bill (page 75) Reid actually makes citizenship even more restrictive than the Vitter amendment.

What’s more,

The Reid bill even contained a provision slapping a $10,000 penalty on any non-citizen who violates federal law and votes in an election.

In jarring contrast, today Democrats go out of their way to encourage illegal aliens to vote by blocking identification requirements as “racist.”

Reid succinctly noted at the time that the statutory fix would eliminate the “incentive for pregnant alien women to enter the United States illegally, often at risk to mother and child, for the purpose of acquiring citizenship for the child and accompanying federal financial benefits.”

Reid took to the Senate floor at the time and declared that “no sane country” would “offer a reward” for “illegal aliens.”

What Reid said was true. But it is also true that no sane country would have reelected Obama. At this point sanity is something we have to fight to regain; it is hardly something that we can count on from the government.
