White House Quietly Admits Joe Wilson Was Correct. Wait, What?
Written By : William Teach

In the wee hours of Friday night, at the end of a long Friday, the rememberence of September 11th, and going into a weekend of protests – from which Obama did his best Holy Grail impersonation – the White House made a very quiet hush hush admission

The White House tonight is providing the below clarification on what the president’s health-care proposals would mean when it comes to the issue of illegal immigrants.

The question, as we all know, arises from the Wilson “You lie” outburst, and the core claim that notwithstanding specific bill language barring illegal immigrants from participating in the “exchange,” as a practical matter, there is no way of verifying the citizenship of applicants — which is the current state of play. Republicans say that then means illegal immigrants would end up being enrolled in plans — bill language or no bill language.

Today, for the first time as far as we know, the administration is backing a provision that would require proof of citizenship before someone could enroll in a plan selected on the exchange.

First, when Joe Wilson yelled out “lie” when Obama stated that illegal aliens would not be covered, well, yes, he was right. While President Sparky was standing at the podium glowering at Joe, Joe was right. As the news media went nuts, telling us how mean Joe was, Joe was right. Funny how those things happen, eh

Second, I find it interesting that these are the first details released regarding Obama’s health plan. He offered none during his campaign speech to Congress, and still hasn’t released an overall plan. Except for this. Heh!

Here are the bullet points from ye olde White House (I am ommitting the one about emergency room care for illegals, since that has long been in place, and really has nothing to do with Obama)

  • Undocumented immigrants would not be able to buy private insurance on the exchange. Those who are lawfully present in this country would be able to participate.
  • Undocumented immigrants would be able to buy insurance in the non-exchange private market, just as they do today. That market will shrink as the exchange takes hold, but it will still exist and will be subject to reforms such as the bans on pre-existing conditions and caps.
  • Verification will be required when purchasing health insurance on the exchange. One option is the SAVE program (Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements) which states currently use to make sure that undocumented immigrants don’t participate in safety-net programs for which they are ineligible.

Notice the second one. “The [private] market will shrink as the exchange takes hold.” I have said time and time again that the whole point of this so-called reform is to eventually implement single payer. If we listen to Obama and other Democrats, the “public option” would simply provide some competition to private insurers. Here, we find out it is expected to shrink the private market.

Of course, this whole thing could mean nothing in the long run, since what Joe Wilson was referring to was HR 3200, which does allow illegals to be part of the system beyond emergency rooms. Obama can come up with all the plans he wants, but, the legislation is already there. Obama might want to pay attention to what is actually flowing through the halls of Congress in the future.

PS: The Obama administration also tried to bury a story that they will be going ahead with no-preconditions talks with Iran, releasing it Friday night.

Double PS: Media Matters points out that more media is paying attention to Wilson than to Obama’s speech. Obama now wearing “pwnd” sign.

Triple PS: Wilson says he will not apologize on the House floor, as the Democrats want him to do.

William, it's funny watching how the masque slips from time to time and the learned heads of state are caught naked in their ambitions. This whole exercise on funding health care is nothing more than the pretext under which single-payer will be foisted off on the overwhelming majority who don't want it, don't need it, and who will undoubtedly perceive it as a long step down from their current insurance.

PS: The Obama administration also tried to bury a story that they will be going ahead with no-preconditions talks with Iran, releasing it Friday night.

The careful observer will notice that this "stealth" announcement comes at the end of week in which Mr. Ahmadinejad gave his first press conference since his illegitimate re-election, and he said:

“Iran’s nuclear issue is over, we will never negotiate Iran’s undeniable rights.”

The lead sentence from the Bloomberg.com story on the subject reads:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ruled out negotiations on his country’s nuclear program while saying he is willing to discuss other international issues in public with President Barack Obama.

In other words, we're going to sit down with the Iranians and discuss our proposed petrol embargo on Iran which has drawn few takers, or how the Yankees are doing, or something else – anything other than the pressing issue of nuclear arms.

Obama and Ahmadinejad still have much in common to discuss. I am sure they will find common ground in the "wiping Israel off the map issue."

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com martinhale

They probably have notes to compare on how best to be authoritarian leaders, too, but Mr. Obama promised he'd talk to them about nukes during the campaign. I just can't believe that Mr. Obama would have lied about such a matter.

That speech by Obama consisted of half-truths, lies, and damned lies. There were two honest moments during the whole thing: when Obama said he wants this bill rammed through so he can get credit for it no matter what the consequences, results or damage, and when Wilson called him a liar. In fact if someone had stood up and called Obama liar after every pause, they would have only served to up the number of honest moments during this shameful freak show.

You're so lame you can't even put a decent spin on one of Mr. Obama's most obvious fails of the past few months. Don't quit your job at the power plant, hoggo – it's about all you seem to be qualified to do.

"Sort of," Dick? Crthns (hog, Vega, whats_up, etc.) lied on everything including "an," "but" and "the."

I know what you mean. Just raggin' with you, ol' buddy.

  • http://Kingfisher Kingfisher

Yes the White House did quietly admit that Joe Wilson was correct to immediately apologize for his rude behavior when President Obama gracioulsy accepted Representative Wilson's apology in full.

Today, for the first time as far as we know, the administration is backing a provision that would require proof of citizenship before someone could enroll in a plan selected on the exchange.

Next step: Demanding that the WH doesn't provide amnesty to illegal aliens. Obama still has that ace up his sleeve.

Today, for the first time as far as we know, the administration is backing a provision that would require proof of citizenship before someone could enroll in a plan selected on the exchange.

Let's check back on the libs' comments, shall we? Remember, these are quotes before the WH changed the bill:

    Liar #1:

You bring up a valid point. It would have been great if Wilson was indeed right (for those on the right) but now everyone is following up on his "You Lie" exclmation and fact checking the proposed bill and are discovering that his outburst was indeed false and that the President was indeed telling the truth.

It vindicates Obama ie he didn't lie and it makes the repubs look even more foolish and worse it erodes their credibility on stopping the healtcare overhaul.

Congrats Wilson, you've done the left a great service!

    Liar #2:

That's only because they get it now under the same circumstances. The bill does NOT provide service to illegals anymore then the status quo does.

The bill actually states plainly against this. And that is what Obama said.

The CRS report refers to the EXCHANGE, not the public option. Illegals would be able to participate in the EXCHANGE. That is, purchase private insurance. As they do now.

The only question with whats_up is which one of his NUMEROUS lies should I post? I could max out John's server.

If these guys comment here they'll obviously try to deflect the issue.

  • http://Kingfisher Kingfisher

Illegals will receive the care anyways, as they do now. Emergency rooms cover illegals, and that's where illegals go. It's red herring to phrase it as if they don't receive it now.

The question is whether as a part of this reform will illegals be barred from receiving the public option.

According the bill, they won't. As Cav pointed out, how will you know or verify? That is the question.

But the bill as it stands now, illegals are barred from the public option.

Regarding the comment as to whether its a plus or minus depends. Does this give the Dems unity & strength? Because whether it gives Republicans unity & strength is irrelevant.

Obama never said insurance companies must have limited rates, can’t refuse anyone, and can’t kick people off their plans for lying to them. Lying to them? Having a pre-existing condition (like acne) is not lying to them. Again, a disengenuous comment that is irrelevant to both the issue, and to what Obama said.

So, once again, Vega is full of it. Even the WH disagrees with him. Again, notice that Vega's comments were made before the changes by the WH.

You're a proven liar Vega, so eat shit and die you POS.

You left out guns and butter and High Plains Radio Hogground. Also conspicuous by its abscence was a rant by you directed at Rush Limbaugh (kingmaker is your word) and James Dobson, who you hate with a passion unless he sayd something nice about Obama.

After all, you both publicly endorsed John McCain and condemned him as unfit for office within 96 hours on this very site.

I really think that Hogground, crthns, idpanicman, Brighthorizons, M77tha, frankie, and a few others are all the product of ONE deranged individual who has a personal grudge against John Hawkins. This person is a white power advocate, gay, technically literate, and has a massive axe to grind.

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com martinhale

Hoggo, you've probably been waiting a week or more for a pretext to drag out your "big list of Republican baddies". You must not read what people here write very closely, because at least half the people who post here on regular basis have said clearly that they're conservative, not Republican. Go ahead and bash the GOP – you're not hurting most people's feelings, and you're certainly reinforcing your bona fides as a knee-jerk dogmatic Democratic ideologue/spokestool.

As far as a "special ability to ferret out Obama lies", well, that's just funny. It takes no special ability whatsoever to catch Mr. Obama in a lie – he's not a particularly good, creative, or inventive liar at all. Most of his lies are blindingly self-evident and easily picked out by even a casual listener/reader. What's harder to detect are those moments at which he's actually telling the unvarnished truth; it's more likely that it takes a special ability to ferret out those truthful moments, not the other way 'round.

It takes no special ability whatsoever to catch Mr. Obama in a lie

A reminder: Obama is a liar. He repeatedly lied, and this is provable.

The left is yet to prove that a single thing Bush ever said was a lie.

There is not one shred of "you did that too" here – we're telling the truth, you've bashed a politician because it doesn't have the right letter after the name.

1: US Senator David Vitter who brought live porn for his personal perverted gratification into the same Washington DC living quarters that he shared on occassion with his wife.

Was this porn purchased from Larry Flynt–a HUGE Democratic supporter? That's the best ya' got, hoggo?

2: US Senator John Ensign who had the gall to cheat on his own wife and engage in an adultrous affair with the wife of one of his staff members.

If Enisgn was a Democrat then he would have traveled to North Korea as an official US representative AFTER cheating on his wife. You remember his name, Bill Clint–something, right?

3: Governor Mark Sanford who cheated on his loyal wife by taking tax payer funded trips out of country to engage in an adultrous affair with his mistress.

    See "Frank, Barney."

4: Assemblyman Mark Duvall who had no shame and was caught on tape bragging about cheating on his wife by engaging in adultrous affairs with two women.

    See "Edwards, John."

5: Virginia candidate for governor Bob Mcdonnell who whipped out the F word during a public interview available for young children to hear.

So McDonnell is trying out for a liberal comic or leading liberal Hollywood role?

Shut up, hoggo. Nobody cares what you think.

  • http://www.thepiratescove.us William_Teach

Yet, Conservatives called for those Republicans to resign. Democrats don't. Heck, you guys have a former KKK big shot who was once a majority leader.

Meanwhile, the facts stand: Obama lied.

  • http://Kingfisher Kingfisher

However, those same right wingers stuck their heads in the sand and fell hook line and sinker for the lines of BS dished out by David Vitter, John Ensign, Mark Sanford, Mike Duvall, and Bob McDonnell until the MSM exposed those adulterers and profaners for what they were.

How many of those leftists (that you admitted I'm right) have been disowned by the left?

    I'm waiting.

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

Hoggo is a pathetic little wretch who tries desperately to spin reality to fit his preconceived notions. Previous names he's tried such as counterspin reveal his intent here: to try to manipulate readers into thinking that what they have had proved and argued to them is a lie.

He fails constantly because his arguments are so incredibly weak and pathetic, but he's a decent enough sophist that most people cannot resist responding to him: sound without fury, an argument without facts, logic, or truth that sounds impressive.

  • http://Kingfisher Kingfisher

  • http://www.thepiratescove.us William_Teach

The issue is how easy the left wing falls for politicians who tickle their ears before the facts.

Fixed that for you, snohomish. Such as Obama.

  • http://www.thepiratescove.us William_Teach

PS: you haven't addressed the point, which is that Obama lied, and Joe Wilson was correct. Why is that?

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com martinhale

    William -

hoggo can't address the point because he's the very definition of pointless. He's here because he thinks of himself as a "noble contrarian", but in reality he just another dogmatic idoelogue who adopts the opposite position of whatever you espouse, just to "get in your face". If you say something's black, he'll insist that it's white. If you claim something's good, he'll do his best to make the case that it's bad. If you've ever been around young children, you'll easily recognise the developmental stage at which he got stuck. He's obviously taken the Obama marching orders of "getting in faces" very literally and he'll challenge anyone, whether he knows what he's talking about or not.

It's been entertaining to watch him come up with a dozen or more user names to post under, in spite of the fact that all of the content he posts is woefully consistent under all of the user names he's used – as often as not, he's gotten the facts of whatever he's discussing hopelessly confused with how he feels about the subject and therefore it's virtually impossible for him to actually address a point.

But I know your question was merely a rhetorical device to corner him, and I know you are well aware of his failings as a debater.

  • http://www.thepiratescove.us William_Teach

Yup, pretty much rhetorical. I love when they DEMAND that we answer their questions, and remain on topic, yet, they never seem to answer ours, and rarely remain on topic.

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com martinhale

You know William, I've thought more than once about posting the twelve rules for radicals in some of these threads where our leftist friends are active, and encouraging our compadres on the right to learn how to spot the obvious ideologue's traps that get set for them by operatives such as hoggo. Sort of a 'learn by doing' model of education which will help our folks become more adept at staying out of the obvious traps our leftists leave for them. There's another thread today, the McQ thread about racism, that's been completely highjacked by one of the leftists who rarely deviates from postings which are formulaic 'rules for radicals' comments. I have to believe that many of those who've responded to him might not have if they just understood what he was doing and what he is after.
