Cloudy with a chance of justice!
Here’s a good news story for you. Just a few days ago, what was about to be a public execution of prisoners condemned by ISIS was rudely interrupted by a British Reaper drone that happened to be in the area.
On May 9th, it has only now been revealed, a Royal Air Force drone hit a sentry with a missile in the Syrian town on Abu Kamal just as the execution was taking place, causing the ISIS members to run away. The drone was alerted when a crowd was seen to be gathering in the town’s square.
As reported in The Telegraph:
The Reaper was flying an armed reconnaissance mission when it spotted a group of fighters from Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (Isil), also known as Daesh, in a main street in the town of Abu Kamal.

The British Ministry of Defence reported on what happened when the Reaper drone focused in on what was happening on the ground:
“When a van then unloaded two shackled prisoners in front of the crowd, it became clear that Daesh were organising a public execution.
“Given the large number of civilians present, the Reaper’s crew could not target directly the Daesh fighters about to carry out the murders.”
In the Middle East, ISIS or ISIL is called by its Arabic name Daesh.
The drone was not able to target the entire group of ISIS militants due to the civilian crowd by which they were surrounded. Instead, the drone looked to one target that would spare the civilians.
So what, exactly, were they aiming at? The Reaper drone successfully focused on two armed extremists acting as sentries, immediately killing one of them. After the ISIS militants ran, the crowd also faded away and the prisoners were able to be set free.
