Donald Trump made international headlines for bombing Syria in retaliation for chemical attacks against innocent civilians. While some in Syria weren’t happy about the bombings, others celebrated them. And evidently, Trump has earned himself a new nickname… and it involves Ivanka?
Syrians have allegedly begun calling Trump “Abu Ivanka al-Amriki”, which means “Father of Ivanka, the American.” It is said to be a term of endearment, according to British outlet “The Telegraph.” Syrians have been grateful that someone stood up to Bashar al-Assad after his disgusting attack on innocent civilians and are openly showing their gratitude.
“One photoshopped a fez on the president’s head with the words: ‘We love you’ in Arabic,” the outlet reported. Another person is saying that they will name their firstborn son after Trump; yet another said that he was going to name his falafel shop in northern Syria after Trump.
“Maybe you in the West hate Trump, but he has already done far more for us than Obama,” Najim Hassan, who lives in the rebel-held city of Idlib, said. “We love him because he does more than he says, he’s a man of action and at least he gives us something to hope for.”
Bana al-Abed, the seven year-old from Aleppo whose tweets have gained international coverage, tweeted in support of Trump.
I am a Syrian child who suffered under Bashar al Asad & Putin. I welcome Donald Trump action against the killers of my people.
Ivanka Trump herself will seemingly be pleased about it — she showed her own support after the bombing.
The times we are living in call for difficult decisions – Proud of my father for refusing to accept these horrendous crimes against humanity https://t.co/yV0oJuC9dE
It’s not just Syrian rebels applauding Trump’s decision to bomb Syria — multiple allied nations, including Israel, Great Britain, Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany and Turkey, praised the bombing as well. And already, some are comparing Trump’s leadership to that of Barack Obama’s.
“Maybe you in the West hate Trump, but he has already done far more for us than Obama,” Syrian Najim Hassan said. “We love him because he does more than he says, he’s a man of action and at least he gives us something to hope for.”
