Emily’s List Targets Rep. Steve King with Blatant Smear

Emily’s List author, Lisa McIntyre, wants her readers to think Rep. Steve King is a sexist. So much she is willing to lie about it.

The progressive pro-abortion, feminist organization posted an article today slamming Rep. Steve King as a sexist, claiming he would not debate possible Congressional candidate Christine Vilsack because she was a woman.

They continued the lie by claiming King said he would be willing to debate her husband because he was a man.

It’s simply not true. The author is reaching so far to paint King as a sexist, she’s bordering on libel.

King has never debated an opponent in any campaign, and when asked if he would debate Vilsack, he did not say either way:

King is making no commitment to debating Christie Vilsack.

“Nor am I declining. That’s something that I would think would be discussed between the two camps, if it got to that point,” King says. “But I would just say that most everybody in Iowa knows that I’ve debated a Vilsack many, many times…Tom and I served in the Iowa Senate together as we engaged each other over and over again. And then as he as governor, and I as a senator and then, he as governor and I as a congressman and now he as the secretary of agriculture and I as a congressman.”

King suggests he’ll have even more debates with Tom Vilsack before debates Christie Vilsack.

Tom Vilsack is the People’s Commissar of Agriculture. King, being a representative of Iowa, has an interest in the federal position on agriculture, especially regarding Pigford. King was simply pointing to the depth of his experience and the probability of squaring off against Tom Vilsack before Christie.

As you can read from the article Emily’s List references, there were no sexist comments made by King. No inferences that he would sooner debate her husband because he was a man. It’s simply a non-story turned into a smear job.
