And that’s a wrap for Fox News y’all. The only real player left is Sean Hannity, who has already said that if Bill Shine left the network, FNC would be done for. That’s exactly what happened today. Rupert Murdoch claims he resigned, but I highly doubt that is exactly correct. Fox News has now been purged of conservative executives as well as their leading broadcasters. I never really thought I’d see the day, but it has happened just as I predicted. Very sad.
The Murdochs had recently quietly put out external feelers for a new head of Fox News and were known to be looking for a woman, which would send a clear message given the cloud of sexism the network has been under since last summer when Gretchen Carlson’s lawsuit opened the floodgates of similar accusations against Roger Ailes as well as network star Bill O’Reilly. Now, they are being besieged by racism law suits. Look for the network to lurch to the left. I already don’t recognize it, but in another six months it will be in a different reality altogether.
From The Hollywood Reporter:
Shine, who had been with FNC since its 1996 launch, has most famously been the top player in the cable network’s programming division.
Fox News co-president Bill Shine is out at Fox News. The move comes as Shine was due back Monday after two days out of the office for a pre-planned long weekend.
Rupert Murdoch, 21st Century Fox and Fox News executive chairman, made the announcement Monday via a brief email to Fox News staffers.
“Sadly, Bill Shine resigned today,” wrote Murdoch. “I know Bill was respected and liked by everybody at Fox News. We will all miss him.”
Suzanne Scott becomes president of programming and Jay Wallace has been promoted to president of news. Scott had been Shine’s second-in-command in programming and has been with the network since it began in 1996.
Additionally, Brian Jones, executive vp of Fox Business Network, becomes president of the network reporting to Scott and Wallace.
Shine was Sean Hannity’s former executive producer. He was part of the old guard that made Fox News a raging success. He’s now been pushed out, some are even saying ‘fired’. Looks like Rupert has handed the reins to his sons… bad news all the way around. Whispers at the network say that sexual harassment allegations are coming for Sean Hannity next. I sure hope that rumored new conservative network is up and running soon. This also explains Sean’s tweets about his massive army of legal eagles.
Hosts and others at Fox News were stunned by this move and reportedly have no idea what is going down. There will be more heading for the exits after this, bet on it. In John Hawkins’ new book, ‘101 Things All Young Adults Should Know’, he teaches in number 16 of the book, “Be nice until it’s time to not be nice.” I strongly suggest it is time for Hannity to not be nice and take off the gloves.
