George Soros Is Spending Fortune to Drive News Media Further Left

If you think the journalism establishment is left-wing now, wait until the seeds sinister ultra-left financier George Soros has been planting[1] begin to flower.

Since 2003, Soros has spent more than $48 million funding media properties, including the infrastructure of news — journalism schools, investigative journalism and even industry organizations.

And that number is an understatement. It is gleaned from tax forms, news stories and reporting. But Soros funds foundations that fund other foundations in turn, like the Tides Foundation, which then make their own donations. A complete accounting is almost impossible because a media component is part of so many Soros-funded operations.

…Soros’ influence doesn’t just include connections to top mainstream news organizations[2] such as NBC, ABC, The New York Times and Washington Post. It’s bought him connections to the underpinnings of the news business. …Soros naturally started with Columbia University’s School of Journalism. Columbia is headed by President Lee Bollinger[3], who also sits on the Pulitzer Prize board and the board of directors of The Washington Post.

Bollinger, like some of Soros’ other funding recipients[4], is pushing for journalism to find a new sugar daddy or at least an uncle — Uncle Sam. Bollinger wrote in his book “Uninhibited, Robust, and Wide-Open: A Free Press for a New Century[5]” that government should fund media[6].

Once the news media is set on the same track toward Stalinization as healthcare, Soros’s $zillions won’t be needed anymore. Hard left social engineers will simply steal the money from you — as they are already doing for rabidly liberal NPR and PBS.

The idea is to create a situation where only non-leftist sources of information are burdened with the need to make a profit, since the rest can help themselves to the money of people who have no use for them. In a free market, Fox News can easily defeat its competitors by offering something other than mendacious moonbattery. For liberals, this is just another reason to end economic freedom.

With the free market gone, we’ll be left to complain to bureaucratic apparatchiks if we don’t like the propaganda we’re fed. Those are getting bought up by Soros too:

Readers unhappy with Soros’ media influence might be tempted to voice concerns to the Organization of News Ombudsmen — a professional group devoted to “monitoring accuracy, fairness and balance[7].” Perhaps they might consider a direct complaint to one such as NPR’s Alicia Shepard or PBS’s Michael Getler, both directors of the organization. Unfortunately, that group is also funded by Soros.

As the farthest fringes of the lunatic left tighten their grip on the information establishment, expect renewed attacks on those who haven’t been taken over by the oligarchical collectivist pod people[8]: Fox News, AM radio, and conservative blogs.
