Oh, Noes! Sarah Palin “A No-Show For Fans!”
Breathlessly reported by MSDNC
GETTYSBURG, Pennsylvania – Sarah Palin has found a new way to keep her political faithful guessing.
Palin was a no-show for several hundred supporters, celebrity-watchers and media who turned out in hopes of seeing her at the Civil War battlefield of Gettysburg on Monday. She and her entourage arrived at a hotel outside the town late in the day and spoke to a smaller group of people gathered there.
How dare she not show up at the battlefield! How mean! How rude! The woman is a disgrace and should never run for office! We at MSDNC are outraged!!!!!1!!!!
Except, of course, she had not announced any plans to visit the battlefield, so, MSDNC is creating an issue where none existed. I find it amazing that this woman, who is considered, by Liberals and elitist barely Republicans alike, stupid, inconsequential, an intellectual lightweight, has no shot at being president, is old news, etc., can still get everyone talking about her, and in many cases, trying to gin up some sort of negative story. Even the NY Times notices that the media can’t stay away
Sarah Palin has apparently decided that she can treat the media any way she wants – and they will be there regardless.
And she might not be wrong.
What follows is a story of the media following Palin like groupies to Led Zeppelin. As the Fish Wrap points out, the Times of London sent 2 reporters to follow her bus tour, rather unusual.
Jay Newton Small, a reporter for Time who has spent years covering Ms. Palin (and has traveled to Alaska many times for interviews with the Palin family), was among those left guessing what her itinerary might be.
“Congratulations, Sarah Palin, you have turned the Washington press corps into a bunch of paparazzi stalking your every move,” Ms. Small wrote on Sunday.
And then there’s this theory: “Are you enjoying messing with our heads a little?” a reporter asked her at the hotel in Gettysburg.
