Code Pink activists barged into the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Thursday with former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger, Madeleine Albright, and George Shultz.
The far left protesters interrupted the meeting and tried a citizens’ arrest on 91 year-old Henry Kissinger.
Senator John McCain lashed out:
I’ve been a member of this committee for many years, and I have never seen anything as disgraceful and outrageous and despicable as the last demonstration that just took place… You know, you’re going to have to shut up, or I’m going to have you arrested. If we can’t get the Capital Hill Police in here immediately… Get out of here, you low-life scum.
Bridget Johnson at PJ Media described the scene:
A Senate hearing opened this morning with Code Pink protesters trying to arrest former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger for “war crimes.”
The protesters, bearing signs reading “Kissinger War Criminal” and “Cambodia,” rushed up behind the 91-year-old diplomat at the witness table of the Senate Armed Services Committee, which is holding a hearing on global threats.
Also testifying are 94-year-old former Secretary of State George P. Shultz and 77-year-old former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
Chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.) called recess until Capitol Police removed Code Pink from the room.
“I’ve been a member of this committee for many years, and I have never seen anything as disgraceful and outrageous and despicable as the last demonstration that just took place,” McCain said, which led to shout-backs from the protesters.
“You know, you’re going to have to shut up, or I’m going to have you arrested. If we can’t get the Capital Hill Police in here immediately… Get out of here, you low-life scum.”
When Kissinger began his opening statement, more protesters popped in the room, screaming about Vietnam and rattling off his “war crimes.”
You know, someone better do something about security there. That could have just as easily been some terrorist looking to get his jollies by stabbing and beheading politicians, journalists and leaders in that room. For the life of me, I cannot understand the lax security detail there. These morons are still reliving the 1960s and are looking for face time and publicity. For Pete’s sake! This was the Senate Armed Services Committee and they just let anyone in. This is darkly ironic. We don’t just face global threats, we have plenty of them at home. Code Pink is among them. Check your six, people.
