Propeller Slices Through Airplane Window, Right Into Female Passenger’s Head [Video]

The woman was hit in the head and only had a few bumps and bruises – she was very, very lucky. Can you imagine being on a flight – all is quiet and you are reading – then, boom! A propeller comes slicing through your window and hits you in the head. I think anyone would be shaken by that. The pilot was making an emergency landing, so she may have been busy holding onto the armrests in a death grip, but still… After she got over the daze of getting whacked in the head, I’ll bet she was having a talk with God to thank Him.

it had rough landing in Edmonton, Alberta on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014.

From ABC News:

A passenger who was injured when a propeller crashed through the window of a commuter airliner is lucky to have made it through the ordeal relatively unscathed.

A propeller can be seeing jutting out of the body of an Air Canada Bombardier Q-400 that made an emergency landing Thursday night when a tire blew during take-off, a passenger told CTV.

Christina Kurylo was hit in the head by a propeller blade that sliced through the body of the Jazz Aviation plane when it landed at the Edmonton International Airport, CTV reported.

“All of a sudden, something came crashing through my window and I got hit in the head,” Kurylo told CTV Edmonton on Saturday. She said the blow from the propeller knocked her glasses off and left her dazed. Her only injury was a few bumps on her head and some bruises.

The incident is being investigated and no one else was injured.

I’ll bet the whole thing will be investigated – it would be great to know how that propeller came off and almost did a happy dance on someone’s head. I do believe that is the first time I have ever heard of that happening during an emergency landing. It looks as though their landing gear didn’t deploy and that propeller hit the ground, sheared off and then it spun into the fuselage of the plane. It’s a miracle no one was hurt.
