As I headed over to Memorandum today, I expected to see a slew of liberal attacks on Aussie PM John Howard after he had the audacity to speak the truth about Barack Obama and the Democratic Party:

"Senator Obama has introduced a bill to remove US combat forces from Iraq by March 31 next year - but the legislation has virtually no chance of becoming law while George W Bush is president, and the presidential election is not until November 2008.

In a strongly worded foray into US politics today, Mr Howard said an Obama victory in the presidential election would be disastrous for the war on terrorism.

"I think he's wrong. I think that will just encourage those who want to completely destabilise and destroy Iraq, and create chaos and a victory for the terrorists to hang on and hope for an Obama victory," Mr Howard said on Channel 9.

"If I were running al-Qaeda in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008 and be praying as many times as possible for a victory not only for Obama but also for the Democrats."

Surprisingly, at least so far today, the lib bloggers don't seem to be up to the challenge.

Maybe that's because the liberal activists don't like Obama as much as the Democrats in general or maybe it's just because what Howard said is absolutely true.

Osama Bin Laden thought the United States was a paper tiger that had no appetite for a protracted battle against terrorism, even if we were winning. So, he hoped to draw us into a long battle and win after we quit.

So, what do the Democrats want to do? They want to surrender in Iraq and hand Al-Qaeda a victory. In fact, they desperately want to lose to Al-Qaeda because they believe they can pin it on Bush, think it will help their political prospects, and because it will humiliate the military.

That's why Howard is right -- Osama is rooting for the Democrats just like Hitler was surely rooting for Chamberlain. Of course, Chamberlain is several cuts above any of the current Democrat leaders because even his naivette only lasted for so long.

But, the Democrats? Their entire approach to the war has nothing to do with what's good for the country. Instead, they make life and death decisions about foreign policy based on nothing more than polls, the rantings of unhinged, pacifistic liberal bloggers, and whether we can convince nations that hate our guts at the UN to give their blessing to our efforts.
