John Hawkins Jimmy Carter's Attack On Tony Blair For Allying With America

It goes without saying that Jimmy Carter is a rather pathetic fellow. He was an utter disaster in the White House who was completely incapable of handling domestic or foreign policy and without a doubt, he was one of the worst Presidents in US history. Moreover, since he has gotten out of the White House, the old anti-Semite has spent an inordinate amount of time cuddling up to dictators and bitterly criticizing his own country, likely because they rejected him after one term in office.

But, his latest comments show you how low he has sunk in his declining years,

"Former President Carter says President Bush's administration is "the worst in history" in international relations, taking aim at the White House's policy of pre-emptive war and its Middle East diplomacy.

The criticism from Carter, which a biographer says is unprecedented for the 39th president, also took aim at Bush's environmental policies and the administration's "quite disturbing" faith-based initiative funding.

"I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history," Carter told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in a story that appeared in the newspaper's Saturday editions. "The overt reversal of America's basic values as expressed by previous administrations, including those of George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon and others, has been the most disturbing to me."

...Carter also lashed out Saturday at British prime minister Tony Blair. Asked how he would judge Blair's support of Bush, the former president said: "Abominable. Loyal. Blind. Apparently subservient."

"And I think the almost undeviating support by Great Britain for the ill-advised policies of President Bush in Iraq have been a major tragedy for the world," Carter told British Broadcasting Corp. radio."

Better men than Carter who have been in the White House, which is pretty much all of them, have tried to keep their mouths shut about their successors out of respect for the office and difficulty of the job. Given that Carter is a small man with no class, I guess it's not a surprise that he hasn't abided by that tradition.

But, the real kicker is his bitter criticism of Tony Blair and Britain. Here he is, a former US President, savagely attacking an American ally for sticking by the United States. That really is beyond the pale and even Democrats should be harshly criticizing Carter for that.
