John Hawkins Democrats Work Overtime To Protect Suspicious Activity On Airplanes

"Liberals become indignant when you question their patriotism, but simultaneously work overtime to give terrorists a cushion for the next attack and laugh at dumb Americans who love their country and hate the enemy." -- Ann Coulter

Bizarrely -- or maybe not, since Democrats almost always oppose any measure that would actually make it harder for our enemies to murder Americans -- Democrats have killed the John Doe Amendment which protect passengers who report suspicious behavior on airlines from being sued,

Congressional Democrats today failed to include a provision in homeland security legislation that would protect the public from being sued for reporting suspicious behavior that may lead to a terrorist attack, according to House Republican leaders.

"This is a slap in the face of good citizens who do their patriotic duty and come forward, and it caves in to radical Islamists," said Rep. Peter T. King, New York Republican and ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee.

Republicans wanted the provision included in final legislation, crafted yesterday during a House and Senate conference committee, that will implement final recommendations from the September 11 commission.

Mr. King and Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican, sponsored the provision after a group of Muslim imams filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against US Airways and unknown "John Doe" passengers. The imams were removed from US Airways Flight 300 on Nov. 20 after fellow passengers on the Minneapolis-to-Phoenix flight complained about the imams' suspicious behavior.

On March 27, the House approved the "John Doe" amendment on a 304-121 vote.

Well, the Democrats have now made it more likely suspicious activity on airplanes won't be reported, which means it's more likely that you and your family will die in a fiery crash into a building when you fly cross country to see grandma later this year.

Why? Well, maybe the Democrats have concluded that there are so many Al-Qaeda sleeper agents in the US that they make up a voting block big enough to swing an election somewhere or more likely, their trial lawyer supporters saw this amendment as killing off a potential goldmine of new suits. Just imagine it: some Osama Bin Laden lookalike with "Death to the infidels tattooed on his forehead," starts ranting about how much he hates America and wondering where he put his boxcutter, and if someone reports it to the stewardess, a John Edwards clone represents the guy in court and sues for 10 million dollars.

But, when Mohammad Atta, Jr. and Company hijack a plane and fly it into a building, because the people who noticed suspicious activity didn't speak up out of fear of getting sued, then what will the Democrats do? They'll just blame it on the Republicans and their pals in the MSM will go right along with it.
