John Hawkins The Daily Kos Post Of The Day: The KKK & Michelle Obama

Over at the Daily Kos one of the diarists, "One Citizen," actually put this photoshop together,

Wow.

Setting aside the fact that the Klan was essentially an arm of the Democratic Party for most of its existence, that the only former Klan member in Congress is a Democrat, and that even today, the socialistic, virulently anti-Israel Klan members have more in common with Democrats than Republicans, this kind of material from the Left always smacks of projection to me.

People on the Right don't want to torture Michelle Obama, throw liberals in camps, turn the U.S. into a theocracy, etc., etc. Nobody in the mainstream of the Right wants to do these things and on the rare occasion that some fringe loony suggests it, if it's noticed, it generally draws a strong rebuke.

So, why do people on the Left keep thinking that the Right wants to do these things to them? My suspicion is that it's because there are more than a few people on the Left who would like to do some of these things to conservatives if they could get away with it; so they assume the Right would do the same.

Don't buy that? Look at Canada, where fascist Liberals are essentially trying to make expressing conservative opinion illegal, listen to libs talk about how they want to put members of the Bush Administration in jail, and notice how little respect liberals have for people who disagree with them at colleges, where they often throw food, rush the stage, and generally try to prevent conservatives from being heard at all.

PS: Along these same lines, this quote from Margaret Thatcher has always stuck with me,

"Left-wing zealots have often been prepared to ride roughshod over due process and basic considerations of fairness when they think they can get away with it. For them the ends always seems to justify the means. That is precisely how their predecessors came to create the gulag."

PS #2: Isn't it more than a little ironic that Obama is portraying himself as a post-racial unity candidate who's supposed to help America put race in the rear view mirror; yet, his supporters seem to be completely race obsessed and paint everyone who disagrees with him in any way as racists? Quite frankly, if Obama wants to do something to help America heal racially, the people he'd primarily need to talk to mostly seem to be supporting his own candidacy.
