John Hawkins Q&A Friday #102: What Are The 5 Funniest & Saddest Movies You've Ever Seen

Question: "What's the funniest movie you've ever seen? Or if you'd prefer to go the opposite route, what's the saddest?" -- Good_Ol_Boy

Answer: Ok, let's do both.

The 5 Funniest Movies I've Ever Seen.

In no particular order,

Something About Mary: Why was there never a Something About Mary 2?

Animal House: This has inspired a zillion college movies.

Clerks: Loved the dialogue.

Caddy Shack: This is such an old movie that Chevy Chase was actually funny back then.

My Best Friend's Girl: The beginning date sequence and the wedding sequence were two of the funniest things I have ever seen.

The 5 Saddest Movies I've Ever Seen.

In no particular order,

Old Yeller: The dog died.

Where the Red Fern Grows: A heartwarming story about a boy, his dogs, and the death of his beloved dogs.

The Crow: One of my fave movies of all-time. A supernatural revenge flick that was fused with a terrible sadness.

Beowulf: This is actually an action flick and most people probably didn't find it to be all that sad. However, the fact that Beowulf lived his entire life in the same castle with the queen that he loved dearly, and even kept a mistress who reminded him of her, but they could never be truly together because of his earlier betrayal -- well, it's sad. For him to be so close to the woman he loved and would die for, but never being able to really have her...

The Passion of the Christ: Watching the suffering that Christ went through for us was absolutely gut wrenching.
