Theater of the Absurd: Obama Enrolls in ObamaCare

What an absolute farce:

Obama enrolled in a “bronze” ObamaCare plan over the weekend in a move the White House described as a “symbolic” gesture designed to promote enrollment.

According to a White House official, the president enrolled in the District of Columbia marketplace and selected from among the lowest-cost options available.

The White House said the president’s plan costs less than $400 per month.

“The act of the president signing up for insurance coverage through the DC exchange is symbolic, since the president’s healthcare will continue to be provided by the military,” the official said. “But, he was pleased to participate in a plan as a show of support for these marketplaces, which are providing quality, affordable health care options to more than a million people.”

A White House official said Obama’s staff helped him sign up for a plan.

No they didn’t help him sign up. They did it for him; the Redistributor in Chief had already begun his latest lavish vacation in Hawaii at our expense, secure in the knowledge that the military will continue to provide full healthcare for himself and his family while millions go without coverage due to his ObamaCare power grab.

As with most interactions with ObamaCare, his signup did not go smoothly. Healthcare.gov reportedly could not verify his identity. Maybe his phony Social Security number threw it off.

The absurd pseudo-story of Obama signing up for ObamaCare came out Monday, the same day as this:

Support for the Affordable Care Act has dropped five percentage points in a month to a record low, according to a CNN/ORC poll released Monday.

The poll finds that just 35 percent of the public supports the law, compared to 40 percent in late November. …

Just 16 percent said they think their family will be better off when most of the law takes effect next year, a number essentially unchanged from earlier in the year.

Moronic stunts like symbolically becoming enrolled in a plan that will not apply to him are unlikely to reverse ObamaCare’s plummeting numbers — or his own.
