Atlanta Hawks Owner Bruce Levenson Confesses to Thought Crime

The immolation of Donald Sterling for having expressed a politically erroneous thought in a private conversation seemed to demonstrate political correctness taken to its last extreme of totalitarian absurdity. But no. The Soviet-style self-denunciation by Atlanta Hawks owner Bruce Levenson pushes it further still:

Atlanta Hawks controlling owner Bruce Levenson has self-reported to the NBA that he sent a racist e-mail in August 2012 and will sell his interest in the team. …

The e-mail, to Hawks President Danny Ferry, details Levenson’s belief that the Hawks’ fan base was too heavily African-American.

Read the email and see if you can find any racial animus. There is nothing to it but dispassionate business considerations.

Prominent among the thought crimes for which Levenson has turned himself in to the Ministry of Love is his suggestion that white fans might feel a little nervous about attending events where most of the audience is black. Why do you suppose that might be?

Don’t waste any tears over this latest victim of the Reign of Politically Correct Terror:

Levenson was one of the strongest critics among owners of Donald Sterling, the Clippers owner who was recorded making racist comments and quickly banned for life from the league.

Anyone who takes part in the mob of P.C. witch-burners richly deserves a trip to the stake.
