The Best Of The Rest: 20 More Quotes About Liberals

Last Friday, I compiled The 25 Best Ann Coulter Quotes About Liberals[1]. On Tuesday, My Townhall column was called The 25 Best Quotes About Liberals[2].

While I was compiling those lists, I came across a number of pretty good quotes that didn’t quite make the cut. Still, they were collectively good enough to merit a post. Enjoy!

The proposed liberal solution was always negotiation. Just as they believed in nuclear arms negotiations for their own sake, they believe in a “peace process” without regard to what its consequences might be….It was impossible for any peace plan to fail in their eyes, since lack of progress was nearly always interpreted as evidence that new talks were now “urgent”. — Mona Charen

Time and time again throughout the latter part of the Cold War, liberals chose a morally perverse pose. They would seek to find any suspect motive or impure act on the part of the United States rather than confront the staggering scale of destruction and misery being wrought by our adversaries. — Mona Charen

If you’re not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative at forty you have no brain. – Winston Churchill

“Be faithful to your roots” is the liberal version of “Stay in your ghetto.” — Mason Cooley

A liberal is man who will give away everything he doesn’t own. — Frank Dane

A liberal man is too broad-minded to take his own side in a quarrel. — Robert Frost

(T)he most important reason American leftists love France is that French elites say bad things about America. French intellectuals call us racist, stupid, imperialistic, simplistic, etc. – and that alone is proof of their intellectualism. So long as you call America “racist,” you could add that an enema is as good as a toothbrush and some professor of “communications theory” would applaud. — Jonah Goldberg

Progressivism, liberalism, or whatever you want to call it has become an ideology of power. So long as liberals hold it, principles don’t matter. — Jonah Goldberg[3]

A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money. – G. Gordon Liddy

Liberals attempt through judicial activism what they cannot win at the ballot box. — Rush Limbaugh[4]

Bigot: A person who wins an argument with a liberal. — Rush Limbaugh[4]

At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child – miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosphy of sniveling brats. — P.J. O’Rourke

These were people who believed everything about the Soviet Union was perfect, but they were bringing their own toilet paper. — P.J. O’Rourke

The second item in the liberal creed, after self-righteousness, is unaccountability. Liberals have invented whole college majors–psychology, sociology, women’s studies–to prove that nothing is anybody’s fault. No one is fond of taking responsibility for his actions, but consider how much you’d have to hate free will to come up with a political platform that advocates killing unborn babies but not convicted murderers. A callous pragmatist might favor abortion and capital punishment. A devout Christian would sanction neither. But it takes years of therapy to arrive at the liberal view. — P.J. O’Rourke

The exploitation agenda advocated by liberals is modeled after the dependency-inducing design of the drug dealer’s business model: “We’ll supply the first hit for free, and after that, you’ll need us forever in order to survive.” In order for the liberal scheme to succeed, all attempts at self-empowerment or individual initiative are to be met with fierce resistance and social sanction. — Angela McGlowan[5]

The Left seeks an ever-expanding state with, by definition, ever-expanding powers. — Dennis Prager[6]

A defining characteristic of the Left is its inability to identify – and therefore confront – evil. — Dennis Prager[7]

The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so. – Ronald Reagan

This (liberal) vision so permeates the media and academia, and has made such major inroads into the religious community, that many grow into adulthood unaware that there is any other way of looking at things, or that evidence might be relevant to checking out the sweeping assumptions of so-called “thinking people.” Many of these “thinking people” could more accurately be characterized as articulate people, as people whose verbal nimbleness can elude both evidence and logic. This can be a fatal talent, when it supplies the crucial insulation from reality behind many historic catastrophes. — Thomas Sowell[8]

Civilization has been aptly called a “thin crust over a volcano.” The anointed are constantly picking at that crust. — Thomas Sowell

* Hat tip to rfdsteve for suggesting some of these.
