Fort Hood’s 9/11
Written By : John Hawkins

From Ralph Peters’ latest column:

On Thursday afternoon, a radicalized Muslim US Army officer shouting “Allahu Akbar!” committed the worst act of terror on American soil since 9/11. And no one wants to call it an act of terror or associate it with Islam.

What cowards we are. Political correctness killed those patriotic Americans at Ft. Hood as surely as the Islamist gunman did. And the media treat it like a case of non-denominational shoplifting.

This was a terrorist act. When an extremist plans and executes a murderous plot against our unarmed soldiers to protest our efforts to counter Islamist fanatics, it’s an act of terror. Period.

When the terrorist posts anti-American hate-speech on the Web; apparently praises suicide bombers and uses his own name; loudly criticizes US policies; argues (as a psychiatrist, no less) with his military patients over the worth of their sacrifices; refuses, in the name of Islam, to be photographed with female colleagues; lists his nationality as “Palestinian” in a Muslim spouse-matching program, and parades around central Texas in a fundamentalist playsuit — well, it only seems fair to call this terrorist an “Islamist terrorist.”

But the president won’t. Despite his promise to get to all the facts. Because there’s no such thing as “Islamist terrorism” in ObamaWorld.

And the Army won’t. Because its senior leaders are so sick with political correctness that pandering to America-haters is safer than calling terrorism “terrorism.”

And the media won’t. Because they have more interest in the shooter than in our troops — despite their crocodile tears.

Maj. Nadal Malik Hasan planned this terrorist attack and executed it in cold blood. The resulting massacre was the first tragedy. The second was that he wasn’t killed on the spot.

Hasan survived. Now the rest of us will have to foot his massive medical bills. Activist lawyers will get involved, claiming “harassment” drove him temporarily insane. There’ll be no end of trial delays. At best, taxpayer dollars will fund his prison lifestyle for decades to come, since our politically correct Army leadership wouldn’t dare pursue or carry out the death penalty.

Maj. Hasan will be a hero to Islamist terrorists abroad and their sympathizers here. While US Muslim organizations decry his acts publicly, Hasan will be praised privately. And he’ll have the last laugh.

But Hasan isn’t the sole guilty party. The US Army’s unforgivable political correctness is also to blame for the casualties at Ft. Hood.
Given the myriad warning signs, it’s appalling that no action was taken against a man apparently known to praise suicide bombers and openly damn US policy. But no officer in his chain of command, either at Walter Reed Army Medical Center or at Ft. Hood, had the guts to take meaningful action against a dysfunctional soldier and an incompetent doctor.

Had Hasan been a Lutheran or a Methodist, he would’ve been gone with the simoon. But officers fear charges of discrimination when faced with misconduct among protected minorities.

Very rarely do I say this, but I have no further comment about this for the moment other than, “What he said.”

Hat tip to Lucianne for the story.

I’m glad he didn’t die. Now we’ll get to find out his motivations for the attack, which will doubtlessly come out at some point no matter how lawyered-up he gets.

We’ll earn the sources of his hate and radical ideology. We’ll see who comes to his defense and the reactions of compatriots and opponents around the world.

And now he’s a radioactive potato dropped into the lap of our apologist President who has been desperate to paper over radical Islam’s hatred of this country. He’s trying to vote “present” and being called out swiftly and harshly for it by liberals and conservatives alike.

  • NorthernCanuck

“While US Muslim organizations decry his acts publicly,”

Have they? Last night I followed several link headlines like “Muslim organizations fear backlash as they condmen shootings”. But the links lead to no condemnations, just the historically unfounded fears of some great backlash. The leftist blogs are bashing Bush and fictional backlash against Muslims from the right. Great sympathy for the shooter on the left from what I’ve read. First they were going with PTSD and when that was shot down as the guy never served in combat it was then the meme that his listening to those who did drove him over the edge.
The guy is a traitor is a time of war, he sides with the Jihadists and I think it’s just that simple.

  • NorthernCanuck

One other thing: I see lots of the left bashing Christians, wondering they aren’t held accountable or smeared as a group. Just another bizarre twist of logic in that Christians aren’t doing this over and over and secondly Christians are indeed smeared as a group by the left.

  • D-Vega

Wow. A column already when all the facts haven’t come out?

And the main point is how “no one wants to call it an act of terror or associate it with Islam.”?!?

You can’t make this shit up. I don’t know what media you are watching, but maybe you should go outside once in a while.

  • http://regularguy regularguy

I suppose you’re right, Mr. Vega, we should wait until a thorough investigation emerges with a more accurate picture of what happened and what actual motives Mr. Hasan had behind his atrocities. The reality, however, is western civilization is at war with radical Islam, and likely just regular Islam as well, whether we wish to soft-pedal and pussyfoot about its intrinsic evils or not. War involves not only killing your enemies but also the rabid beliefs behind them that motivate fanatics to kill incessantly. We WILL have to kill lots of bad people who hold very bad beliefs before enough of those who sympathize with their cause realize that the war they face is too horrible to continue such behavior. You and your type, however, want half measures and powderpuff “remedies” which simply prolong the real reckoning that will have to take place to end these recurring atrocities. So, you can continue with your bullshit ideas that will continue to get good, innocent people killed; the rest of us are aware of what will need to be done and kindly ask you to STFU and get the hell out of the way.

  • D-Vega

Too bad we ain’t going anywhere, specialguy.

My ideas haven’t gotten anyone killed.

  • smelvertising

Wow. A column already when all the facts haven’t come out?

Wow. Vega trying to score political points with the bodies still warm on the ground?

Oh, right, it’s hard to be surprised.

Maybe you can follow your own suggestion, whipping boy. Your irreversibely damaged reputation on this site won’t improve if you keep your trap shut five minutes while your betters discuss, but at least you’ll give only the impression of being a douchebag, rather than openly confirming it.

  • D-Vega

So the worm crawls out from under his rock.

I’m not the one here trying to politically benefit from a horrific attack, smells-like-shit.

  • Bildo

One thing that should be mentioned: It happened in Texas. Hasan will most definitely die for what he did.

He will stand trial. He will most likely be found guilty by a jury of his peers. He will be sentenced to death by lethal injection. He will die, and rightfully so.

I hope it’s painful. I hope he suffers horribly. I hope that while he is awaiting trial that he gets raped repeatedly while in prison. I hope that he expects anyone in this country to care. We won’t.

To hell with him, and to hell with his culture that approves of the murders that he committed in the name of that culture, and even praises them. To hell with the Liberals who think that he wouldn’t have done this if only we hadn’t done something to justify it.

Serious question here Bildo, since it happened on an Army Post would not the military have jurisdiction and not the local authorities?

In this day and age I just can’t see the military executing anyone, no matter how much this scumbag deserves to die.

The current administration goes around the world apologizing for this country, and sympathizing with the Muslim world so I’m sure that the administration DOJ would not let him get the death penalty.

    THE MOSELM DIFFERENCE AVOIDED

Islamists may use their religion as as “excuse-vehicle” to murder innocents (even family members).
That is the crucial reality so many media (and liberals) refuse to admit.

Is there another worldwide religion that has this “murder loophole”?

“Serious question here Bildo, since it happened on an Army Post would not the military have jurisdiction and not the local authorities?”

You bring up a good point. He might be tried under military law, but I don’t think that excludes him from being tried under state law as well.

I’m sure there are some Federal terrorism laws that might allow him to be tried in Federal Court (the same laws that Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were convicted under), but he would probably still be tried in Texas, and would be eligible for the death penalty. You’re right in that President Obama might not push for such a politically incorrect punishment though.

Regardless, he violated Texas laws, and I’m pretty sure that he could be tried under Texas law regardless of what the Feds do. If there are any criminal defense attorneys that read RWN maybe they could clear this up for us.

I disagree. I believe the ideas expressed by yourself and shared by others of a like political persuasion are responsible for tens of thousands of deaths, if not millions.
    I mean that quite sincerely.

    Bildo,

It would be helpful for a criminal defense attorney to clear this up. Where I get really confused is when you’ve already been tried by the state as an example (maybe found not guilty) but then you can be tried by the Feds or vice versa? Such as the I believe the (Rodney King vs the cops verdict)? I thought once you had your day in court that was it and you couldn’t be touched again.

I really truly hope that he is tried by the State of Texas and he is sentenced to the death penalty.

I was born in Texas and spent a great deal of my childhood there, the one phrase I will always remember is “Don’t Mess with Texas!

  • assassin6

I’m sure that the military and the DOJ will be arguing over who has jurisdiction. I’m betting DOJ gets it. If you get a speeding ticket on a military base it goes to the nearest federal district court. If I remember correctly, the military only gets jurisdiction if it happens in combat or it gets referred to the chain of command for UCMJ if it a misdemeaner type crime. I will grant you that my knowledge of military law is limited to executing UCMJ as a company (second command at Fort Hood, I’ve been through the processing center where this happened) commander, so we should find a JAG type with real expertise for insight. Also, I think a fitting punishment for this vermin would be to give him to an infantry company for one day, no questions asked afterwards. I’m also sick and tired of the MSM trying to cover up for lone jihadis like this sicko, the SSG in the 101st in 2002, the Colorado mall shooter, the DC sniper, the Virginia Tech shooter, etc. Call a spade a spade. This was terrorism. There were plenty of warning signs on this SOB, but none of it was acted on because of political correctness. I remember being a brand new platoon leader in the 82nd Airborne in the late 90′s and the big thing then was getting rid of white-supremicists. If anyone had the wrong tattoo or attended meetings or had any connection to neo-nazi type groups they were kicked out of the Army, no questions asked. Obviously, PC has changed all that.

When I heard about this breaking story I could picture it in my minds eye. This processing center is the old enlisted club in the 1ST Cav section of Fort Hood. Everyone is crowded in there doing paperwork and getting medical stuff done, thus making it a very inviting target. Not only that, but there are never enough MPs or civilian contract police to go around at Hood. Keep in mind that there are 90K troops at Hood, it’s a big place and most of the cops/MPs are on gate guard checking IDs.

As an aside, I’ve always been upset with the military policy of not allowing concealed carry. I had a CCW for every state I was stationed at on active duty and couldn’t carry or even have my pistol on post. The only way you could bring a weapon on post was if you were going to the pistol/rifle club to shoot or to go hunting. I’m not saying that this would have prevented what happened, but likewise it sure wouldn’t have hurt to have armed soldiers ready to respond.

Wow. A column already when all the facts haven’t come out?

I’m sorry, weren’t you the one demanding we exact vengeance on this man for what he did? Exactly what business do you have for whining about people jumping to conclusions before all the facts are out?

My ideas haven’t gotten anyone killed.

The victims of the Vietcong, Soviet Union, Khmer Rouge, and Maoists would beg to differ.

  • http://www.superdickery.com mightysamurai

    Yup, here it is:

Very sad. I’m going to have to call vengeance on this one though.

That’s you, D-Vega. Calling for VENGEANCE against this guy way before all the facts had come out.

The only way you could be more of a hypocrite is if you sewed a big scarlet “H” on your chest and carried around a big neon sign that said “THE ‘H’ STANDS FOR HYPOCRITE”.

  • Bildo

Sgt Hasan Akbar, a Muslim in the US Army that threw a grenade into a tend full of officers, was sentenced to death by a military court, so we know that can happen. That event happened overseas though.

“I thought once you had your day in court that was it and you couldn’t be touched again.”

My understanding of double jeopardy means he can’t be tried for the same crime twice, i.e. if he were found innocent of murder, to be tried again for the same murder to try and get a different result. It’s pretty obvious why we as a society wouldn’t want the government to keep trying you until they get the result they want.

A person can commit multiple crimes during the same event. Hasan obviously committed murder (state), but he also committed terrorism (Federal), and probably violated several dozen military codes of conduct. Also, he committed 13 separate murders, and if the state chose to do so he could be tried, and sentenced, for each one separately. This helps in a situation like this because if the Feds try him for terrorism, and he gets off, or he gets a lighter sentence than he deserves (anything other than death), then the state could step in and try him for a few of the murders. If that doesn’t work, try him for a few other murders. Always keep one or two of them in reserve in case whichever douchebag liberal attorney
that volunteers to take his case finds a loophole.

  • Bildo

The incident involving Akbar that I mentioned above happened in 2003 just prior to the invasion of Iraq. He killed 2 and wounded 14.

Thought I would provide a few details for those who didn’t know.

  • BIG

Hasan was scream Allah Ackbar as he was murdering unarmed people. You are right Vega, there is no evidence that his religion played any role in what happened.

There are millions of Muslims here in America. They have the same rights as any other Americans. When have you ever seen a Code Pink type rally against the brutal killing that is going on around the world in their peaceful religions name? Instead all we get is they fear backlashes after every one of these incidents. Backlashes that never happen.

No MHB, its not just you that thinks that. As a matter of fact so has RMiller as well.

They always used to seem so reasoned now they have their noses up the Teleprompter Jesus’s butt.

  • D-Vega

Again, I am not the one attempting to score political points off a horrible attack.

Yes, I did call for vengeance because enough of the facts have come out to warrant that. Unless by some miracle this guy is innocent.

  • http://www.superdickery.com mightysamurai

Again, I am not the one attempting to score political points off a horrible attack.

Oh bullcrap. If you weren’t interested in scoring political points you wouldn’t be here.

You’re just as interested in scoring political points as anyone else here, you’re just trying to do it by copping a morally superior attitude instead of being, y’know, honest.

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

I guess its important to see the difference between “trying to score political points” and “thoughtfully attempting an accurate analysis of what happened and what it means.” I think the most common definition would have to be when someone disagrees with your analysis, its “trying to score points.”

  • D-Vega

Maybe we can mourn our dead before we have any analysis. There is plenty of time for that.

To do so immediately, and indicting an entire religion once again whether accurate or not, can only be for the sake of politics.
