CRUZ CONTROL: Ted Cruz Dominates Iowa with a 10-Point Lead Over Trump

Ted Cruz has really surged in Iowa. He now holds a commanding 10-point lead over Donald Trump in The Cyclone State. It is the biggest surge between polls in that state in the last five presidential elections. Winning Iowa by no means ensures you will win the nomination. Huckabee and Santorum can attest to that fact. But it does show a tremendous wave of support for Cruz is growing. Before the media gets all giddy at the prospect of Trump and Cruz duking it out, they should know this… Cruz will not attack Trump. And any attacks from Trump, in my viewpoint, are theater. The two are friends and whoever wins, the other will support and possibly join. It is a nightmare scenario for Progressives. Good times.

From Bloomberg Business:

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has surged ahead to become the latest front-runner in the campaign for the Iowa caucuses, dislodging Ben Carson and opening an impressive lead over a stalled Donald Trump, a Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register Iowa Poll shows.

The firebrand junior senator from Texas is backed by 31 percent of those likely to attend the Republican caucuses that start the presidential nomination season on Feb. 1. Trump is a distant second at 21 percent, up slightly from 19 percent in October, but below his peak of 23 percent in August.

Cruz’s 21-percentage-point jump since October is the largest surge between Iowa Polls recorded in at least the last five presidential caucus campaigns. When first and second choices are combined, he has the support of 51 percent of likely caucus-goers. The senator’s great leap forward comes largely at the expense of Carson, as Iowa’s evangelicals appear to have picked the candidate they want to get behind. The retired neurosurgeon, now barely in third-place, is supported by 13 percent, down from the first-place showing he posted in October, when he was at 28 percent.

Cruz has now cornered the evangelical vote solidly. The field is beginning to narrow significantly. Rand Paul has just announced that if he does not make the debate cut next week, he will drop out of the race. More will follow. I am a Cruz gal and will be all the way to the end, but you won’t see me dis Trump. I consider it a win if either gets the nod. I just consider Ted Cruz to be the conservative that Reagan would have favored. He’s a rock solid constitutional conservative and he’s a good, honorable man. Trump is as well. So, as the race heats up, realize that both are good for the party and both are hated by those on either side of the aisle. They are anti-establishment and we are in a war now for the heart and soul of the Republican Party. Cruz’s new front-runner status in Iowa has been accompanied by a jump in his favorability rating, now at an all-time high of 73 percent, the highest in the Republican field. That will come as a surprise to members of the Washington Cartel, who have shown disdain for him and complained that his three years there have been marked by showmanship, inflexibility and a lack of collegiality. The elitists are about to get a lesson in what the people want versus what the powers-that-be want.
