Rand Paul, RINOs, and the Fork in the Road for the GOP

You know the heroic stand Rand Paul took against tyranny with his historic filibuster was a success not only because Eric Holder reversed course and renounced the use of drones to kill Americans on American soil without due process, but by the reaction of the dinosaurs dominating the Republican establishment. Snipes John McCain:

“If Mr. Paul wants to be taken seriously he needs to do more than pull political stunts that fire up impressionable libertarian kids in their college dorms.”

Anyone who supports Tea Party values against brutish Big Government can take that as a declaration of war.

Fellow RINO and amnesty devotee Lindsey Graham praises Obama’s drone policy. According to Grahamnesty, Rand Paul “has a view that I don’t think is a Republican view” regarding the White House’s authority to kill Americans without trial; he expressed scornful “disappointment” with those who agree with Paul.

The Republican Party has reached a fork in the road. It can follow McCain and Graham into the tar pits, or it can follow Rand Paul back to relevance and competitiveness. Under RINOs, terror of Democrats is the only reason for anyone to vote for the GOP, and Romney’s defeat proved that is insufficient. You can’t beat something with nothing, and nothing whatsoever is what the Old Guard stands for.

Six time US presidential candidate of the Socialist Party of America Norman Thomas was prophetic:

“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Having completely taken over the Democrat Party, American socialists are accomplishing what the Soviet Red Army didn’t dare try.

But maybe it isn’t too late to reverse them. Maybe libertarian patriots can play the same trick by taking command of the driverless vehicle of the Republican Party, infusing it with purpose, principle, and appeal to rebellious youth.

It’s that or try to start over with a third party; the GOP either rids itself of McCain, Graham, et al. or it withers and dies.
