Authorities Confirm Worst for Boy Separated from Mom During Barcelona Terror Attack

This story makes me absolutely sick to my stomach.

News from the Barcelona terror attacks continues to get worse as we now learn the tragic fate suffered by 7 year-old Julian Cadman.

Cadman was a British-born young man who was with his mother in Las Ramblas the day of the ramming. During the attack he was separated from his mother, who had no idea what had become of her son. Unfortunately, her worst fears have been confirmed.

The 7 year-old boy has been confirmed to be among the fatalities of the Barcelona terror attack.

His mother is in the hospital recovering from the injuries she sustained during the attack. His father, Andrew, arrived from Sydney, Australia and was reportedly taken to the forensic institute – which houses a mortuary.

The two were in town for a family wedding and were unfortunate enough to have been at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The family released a statement via the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia which read as follows:

“Julian was a much loved and adored member of our family. As he was enjoying the sights of Barcelona with his mother, Julian was sadly taken from us. He was so energetic, funny and cheeky, always bringing a smile to our faces. We are so blessed to have had him in our lives and will remember his smiles and hold his memory dear to our hearts. We would like to thank all those who helped us in searching for Julian. Your kindness was incredible during a difficult time.”

And despite being in a pain only understood by those who have lost a child tragically, they also noted that their thoughts and prayers are with those who are going through similar circumstances right now as a result of the senseless attack in Spain.

We will continue to pray for the dead, the injured and the friends and family of both groups in this time of grief and healing. I can’t even begin to imagine what they are experiencing right now, but we can help ease the pain by letting them know they have friends all around the world who are thinking about them in this time.
