Please use the comments to demonstrate your own ignorance, unfamiliarity with empirical data, ability to repeat discredited memes, and lack of respect for scientific knowledge. Also, be sure to create straw men and argue against things I have neither said nor even implied. Any irrelevancies you can mention will also be appreciated. Lastly, kindly forgo all civility in your discourse . . . you are, after all, anonymous. — The Big Picture

I know the South, and you have to win the South. Mitt Romney did not win it when he ran against John McCain. The reason he will have a difficult time winning the South this time is because when he ran the first time, he did not do a good job of communicating his religion. It doesn’t bother me, but I know it is an issue with a lot of Southerners. — Herman Cain

But now the rest of us have to watch while the mainstream media pursue their personal grudge against Rupert Murdoch for allowing Fox News to exist. They demand his head for owning a British tabloid where some reporters used illegally obtained information, something The New York Times does defiantly on a regular basis. — Ann Coulter

I have never done anything to hurt my country or the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for us. — Jane Fonda

(Friends with benefits is) like communism–good in theory, in execution it fails. Friends of mine have done it, and it never ends well. Why do people put themselves through that torture? — Mila Kunis

Dear Congresswoman Bachmann —

The enclosed summary regarding your experience of migraine headaches is provided to you as per your request. You are overall in good general health.

You have a well-established diagnosis of migraine headaches with aura for which you have had an extensive evaluation by both my office and by a board certified consulting neurologist. Your evaluation has entailed detailed labwork and brain scans all of which were normal. Your migraines occur infrequently and have known trigger factors of which you are aware and know how to avoid. When you do have a migraine, you are able to control it well with as-needed sumatriptan and odansetron. It has not been necessary for you to take daily scheduled medications to manage this condition. You have not needed medical attention from me regarding your migraines with the use of the above-mentioned commonly used therapies.

Sincerely,

Brian P. Monahan, MD, MACP

We’re spending $100,000 a second. By the time I finish this sentence, we’ll have spent a half a million dollars. Of that $100,000 a second, we’re borrowing $40,000 a second. — Rand Paul

OMB estimates federal revenues for 2011 will hit $2.17 trillion. Granny, our servicemen, and other such untouchables – by which I take him to mean Social Security, Medicare, national defense, and debt-service payments – will add up to $2.21 trillion, meaning that even if we cut the rest of the federal budget to $0.00 – no Medicaid, no food stamps, no Air Force One – revenues still would not cover these untouchables, according to OMB estimates.

I wish it were just a matter of sticking it to those ethanol bastards and other “special interests,” but it isn’t. Ultimately, there are three ways to make the federal government solvent in the long term: A. Cut Social Security and Medicare; B. institute heavy tax increases; C. a combination of A and B. — Kevin Williamson

There is something surreal and unnerving about the so-called “debt ceiling” negotiations staggering on in Washington. In the real world, negotiations on an increase in one’s debt limit are conducted between the borrower and the lender. Only in Washington is a debt increase negotiated between two groups of borrowers. — Mark Steyn

On current projections, by 2020 all it will take to finance the government of the United States is for the rest of the planet to be willing to sink 19 percent of its GDP into U.S. Treasury debt. — Mark Steyn

I wish they (Republicans) were all f*cking dead! — Dan Savage

You are the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. . . you are not a Lady. — Allen West on Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Life has many good things. The problem is that most of these good things can be gotten only by sacrificing other good things. We all recognize this in our daily lives. It is only in politics that this simple, common sense fact is routinely ignored. — Thomas Sowell

I didn’t want to work in a place that wouldn’t let me do my kind of show, that wasn’t interested in my kind of show, that didn’t want to challenge power. — Cenk Uygur on the end of his show at MSNBC

At this point, anyone with an Obama 2012 bumper sticker is a threat to the gene pool. — Allen West

I’m a threat because I’m the guy that got off their 21st century plantation and they cannot afford to have a strong voice such as mine out there reverberating and resonating across this country. And even more so, they’re not used to anyone that says, ‘I’m going to fight back against you.’ — Allen West

(Obama) keeps making speeches about redistribution and maybe we ought to do something to businesses that don’t invest, their holding too much money. We haven’t heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists. Everybody’s afraid of the government and there’s no need soft peddling it, it’s the truth. It is the truth. And that’s true of Democratic businessman and Republican businessman, and I am a Democratic businessman and I support Harry Reid. I support Democrats and Republicans. And I’m telling you that the business community in this company is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the President of the United States. And until he’s gone, everybody’s going to be sitting on their thumbs. — Steve Wynn
