Ben Carson Scoffs At Gay ‘Civil Rights’ Argument: They Never Had Separate Water Fountains

Ben Carson is a social conservative who tells it like it is. Whether he is your choice for the GOP nod or not, it’s undeniable that his no-nonsense “Washington outsider” perspective is refreshing. Recently, however, he pushed-back against the ludicrous comparison between the civil rights movement and the treatment of homosexuals today- an act of defiance that the left simply cannot abide.

Ben Carson edged back into the fray over gay rights Wednesday night when he used a Fox News interview to criticize liberals trying to put same-sex marriage on the same moral plane as the civil rights movement.

During the interview Fox host Bret Baier asked Carson about comments he made during an earlier interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, when he suggested homosexuality is a preference, not a biological trait.

Carson explained that the CNN interview had “irritated” him, because Cuomo continually tried to portray the gay rights movement as analogous with the civil rights struggles of the 1960s.

“Quite frankly, I didn’t remember any times when there were signs up that says, you know, ‘everybody else here and gay people have to drink at this fountain,’” Carson told Baier.

Carson speculated that the CNN quote received so much play in the news because the liberal media was eager to get a conservative, black Republican out of the race.

“They saw that as the opportunity to finally knock this guy out,” Carson said. “They were jubilant. And now they’re saying, ‘I can’t believe this guy is still here. Are you kidding me?’”

Carson posed a question to the gay rights movement that strikes to the heart of the progressive movement’s inability to accept any form of disagreement with its supposed beliefs.

“What position can a person take, who has absolutely no animosity toward gay people but still believes in traditional marriage, that would still be satisfactory?” he asked.

For the militant left, there is none.

Carson is 110% correct on this matter. Blacks in this country faced real discrimination; today, bakeries that refuse to celebrate same-sex marriage is considered discrimination.

Let’s not pretend that the plight of these two groups are in away close to analogous.
