Coincidence? Obama’s DOJ Targets Democrat Senator Just Days After he Bashed Obama Over Iran

The Group Of Senators Dubbed The "Gang Of 8" Hold News Conference On Immigration LegislationA former manager at one of the local offices of the Department of Justice once told me that the Obama administration is so corrupt, she used to joke at meetings that it was really named the Department of Social Justice. She said the orders regularly came down to target the administration’s political enemies, and you just had to keep your head down and be quiet. Even getting rid of Eric Holder hasn’t seemed to stop the targeting. Now the DOSJ -er DOJ, is going after one of its own, fellow Democrat Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey, and the timing couldn’t be more questionable.

Western Journalism reports,

A powerful Democrat senator — the driving force behind his colleagues’ push for the Obama administration to impose tougher sanctions on Iran — now reportedly finds himself facing extremely serious legal trouble.

New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez, who publicly slammed the president earlier this week for his handling of nuclear arms talks with the Iranian dictatorship, is about to be slapped with criminal corruption charges, reports CNN.

The cable network says that the Justice Department will allege that Menendez used his senate office to benefit a longtime friend and wealthy Democrat donor, Florida ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen, who supposedly returned the favors.

“People briefed on the case say Attorney General Eric Holder has signed off on prosecutors’ request to proceed with charges.”

The investigation of the senator’s relationship with Melgen and the eye doctor’s alleged gifts to Menendez has been underway for some two years.

Both Sen. Menendez and Dr. Melgen have denied doing anything improper.

While there is no obvious connection between the pending corruption charges and the Menendez criticism of Obama at the recent AIPAC conference at which Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu spoke, one can reasonably take note of the timing.

The ranking member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Menendez told the gathering of the prestigious American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) that the Obama administration’s handling of the Iranian nuclear talks is “simply not good enough.”

It is becoming increasingly terrifying watching who this administration targets using the legal system. Unable to consistently beat the right at the polls, the left has successfully figured out how to exploit the legal system to target conservatives, due in part to controlling much of the judiciary, large law firms, and state bars – over half of which are mandatory across the U.S. First, they used the legal system to target powerful conservatives like Dinesh D’Souza, Rick Perry, Tom DeLay, Bob McDonnell, Michelle Malkin and Ted Stevens. Now, having had some success pursuing those patriots, the left is moving on to purging those who aren’t completely lockstop in step with its totalitarian positions. Think they’re not coming for you next? Who’s next?
