This Country Just Publicly Threatened To Destroy New York With A Nuclear Bomb

Under President Obama’s so-called leadership, America’s defense capabilities have become a joke. With slashes to the military and a broader message across the globe that America is dedicated more to groveling with despots than with upholding strength and dignity for ourselves and our allies, it is little wonder why crackpot nations like North Korea are willing to make lofty threats against the United States.

North Korea said Sunday it has developed a hydrogen bomb that could annihilate New York City, The Washington Post reports.

“Our hydrogen bomb is much bigger than the one developed by the Soviet Union,” said the article in the state-run DPRK Today.

“If this H-bomb were to be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile and fall on Manhattan in New York City, all the people there would be killed immediately and the city would burn down to ashes,” the reported quoted a nuclear scientist identified as Cho Hyong Il.

The hydrogen bomb “surpasses our imagination,” Cho says.

“The H-bomb developed by the Soviet Union in the past was able to smash windows of buildings 1,000 kms [625 miles] away and the heat was strong enough to cause third-degree burns 100 kms [62.5 miles] away,” the website said.

Experts in the West believe North Korea does have ballistic missiles that could reach the West Coast of the United States, but not as far as New York City. They also are skeptical of North Korea President Kim Jong Un’s recent claims of a building a miniaturized nuclear weapon.

North Korea may be ridiculous in so many ways, but we should take their threats seriously. Like a schizophrenic with a knife pledging to cut your heart out to save President Lincoln, North Korea’s threat reminds us that one does not need to be sane or rational or inflict serious harm.
