Deny Taxpayer Funds To Any University That Shows Porn

Since Barack Obama has now established that the government can fire people in organizations that take federal funds, how about we fire the Deans at every public college that has officially screened porn for its students?

Some of the most hoity-toity universities in the nation are offering students an unusual distraction from the stress of academic life. In recent weeks, “Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge” – an X-rated swashbuckler with hundreds of special effects – has been screened in campus theaters at the University of California at Los Angeles, Northwestern University, Carnegie Mellon University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Southern Connecticut University.

The University of California at Davis will show “Pirates” on Thursday evening, the University of Maryland at midnight Saturday.

…When some 800 students settle in with their popcorn to view “Pirates” at UC Davis, they will also hear a lecture on pornography as a cultural institution – drawing on the fact that X-rated films such as “Deep Throat” began appearing in the lecture halls of American universities more than three decades ago.

The University of Maryland will offer “Pirates” at the Hoff Theater on campus, complete with an introduction by Planned Parenthood representatives.

“They’re going to talk about safe sex. We think it’s important to contextualize the film before we show it,” theater manager Lisa Cunningham said.

Porn, however, does not create much of a fuss.

“Four years ago, we showed ‘Deep Throat,’ and nobody spoke up. No parents protested. Maybe they would have 30 years ago, but not any more. We also operate on our own income. We use no student activity fees to screen X-rated films,” she said.

College students aren’t being sent to college in order to be corrupted by the very people who are supposed to be educating them. It’s bad enough that college students are indoctrinated into left-wing politics and majors like “women’s studies” and “African-American studies” are treated like something other than the bad jokes that they are, but a college shouldn’t be promoting porn any more than it should be allowing terrorists like Bill Ayers to teach teenagers.

One of the problems with colleges in this country is that in an effort to be open minded, they’ve abandoned all standards of decency and morality and thus, by doing so, by default end up favoring immorality in a left-wing atmosphere where liberals are going to staunchly oppose anything viewed as conservative. That’s not a proper environment for a bunch of 18-year-old kids with heads full of mush.

Now these college kids? What they do on their own time, that’s their business. If they want to watch porn, read the latest screed by Bill Ayers, or put a Che poster up on the wall, that’s their right. That’s what individual choice is about. But, when a university does those things, it gives those activities a level of respectability that shouldn’t be granted.

There are two ways that conservatives can do something about that. Parents who pay the bills for their kids can make their displeasure known at the university by complaining or better yet, by moving their children elsewhere.

Additionally, and this is something we need to start seeing happen much more often, Republicans in government need to start attaching strings to the funding of these universities. They need to make it clear that, no, these schools are not allowed to discriminate against conservatives, professors shouldn’t be talking politics in the classroom, terrorists and radicals shouldn’t be teaching American students, and the university shouldn’t be promoting pornography.
