Global Warming Alarmists Target FAKE Fireplaces

gsfrdhrthNot content with regulating real fireplaces and wood stoves out of existence, environmental busybodies under the Obama administration are now proposing new regulations to limit the energy use of “gas-fired hearth products” like decorative fireplaces and stoves. That’s right, those units that provide flame without any logs or paper to catch fire.

The Daily Caller reports,

The major change DOE demands is the end of continuously burning pilot lights that make it so fireplaces and stoves can be used at a moment’s notice. Instead, the DOE is mandating the use of electric ignition systems to save energy and fight global warming.

The DOE also notes that the price of gas hearths will likely go up because of its mandate. For example, smaller hearth producers could see the costs of making an outdoor hearth increase by $65 per unit. The cost of a vented indoor hearth could increase by $31 per unit because of the electronic ignition system.

How far will the overreaching go in the dubious name of global warming? (ahem, “climate change” now) What’s next in the silliness, all to please people who bow to junk science as their god? One thing is for sure, you can expect your pocketbook to decrease and your hassles to increase.
