Guess what happened to these partying kids who shone a penlight at a police helicopter?

pnlght[1]You’d have to be really stupid not to know that shining a penlight at a helicopter is a crime, because it could blind the pilot. This group of partiers in Kitts Green, Birmingham, had the nerve to shine a penlight on a National Police Air Service (NPAS) chopper, then hold their drinking bottles up later to toast the act! The helicopter focused in on the partiers, who were in the back yard behind a house, and guided officers on the ground to the house, where they arrested the man with the penlight within minutes.[2]

According to IJ Review, reporting from LiveLeak,

The laser attack took place on 31 July 2014 and Chris Vowles from Highfield Road in Sandwell appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on 16 October 2014 and was sentenced to seven months suspended for two years and 250 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £100 victim’s surcharge and £300 costs.

It is all caught on the helicopter’s surveillance video, including the guilty man holding his hands up as he is arrested a few minutes later. Why anyone would deliberately go out of their way to deliberately taunt the police, putting their lives at risk, is unbelievable, and he’s lucky he did not win a Darwin Award.  Watch the incredible video below.
