Homeless teen finds long-lost sister and gets an even bigger surprise

[1]All Logan Hunt ever wanted was to be part of a family. The troubled teenager, who formerly went by the name Seth, had drifted from home to home after being given up for adoption, and even went through one failed adoption attempt before ending up bounced around in foster homes. Finally, when he reached age 18, he was out the system and ended up homeless, living in his car. [2] That’s when his life took a radical change.

His court-appointed special advocate encouraged Robert and Ara Hunt, the couple who had adopted Seth’s biological sister, to view the report.

At first leery, they eventually met Seth. They then arranged for their daughter, Shyann, to meet the brother she never knew existed. It was an emotional meeting.

“When we let go of the fears, we found forever,” Ara Hunt said.

The Hunts soon invited Seth to move in with them. They have a large family, including two daughters and a son still living at home. They have adult children as well.

It was, at first, a difficult transition.

Seth sat with the family at the Thanksgiving dinner table for the first time since he was a child… and cried. He was often surprised when the family expected him to join them on family outings. It took months of reassurance.

“I’ve had to tell him many times, ‘I’m sorry for not finding you sooner. I wish I had. I wish I knew about you, because I would have gotten you the minute you were born,” Ara Hunt said.

Eventually, Seth decided to take a new name to match his new life. He chose “Logan” for strength and “Hunt” to honor the family that had changed his life.

The Hunts officially adopted Logan at age 19. It goes to show it’s never too late to give up hope. Just because someone has gone through their entire childhood troubled does not mean they can’t turn things around. It also shows that kids need and want a close family – not government raising them.  Watch the touching story below.
