Is this the worst half-court shot in history?

shooting basketIf you were given an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to throw a basketball into the hoop during a major game that is being televised, would you practice a bit in advance? One woman apparently did not bother practicing after receiving the opportunity.

The Daily Mail reports,

A young woman has made a mortifying attempt at a half court shot for a supposed $250,000 during a televised basketball game.

The woman, known only as Sally, participated in the competition during halftime at the Cairns Taipans vs the Sydney Kings at the Cairns Convention Centre on Friday night.

Footage shows Sally running down the court bouncing the ball in an attempted dribble, before coming to a halt at the line and pelting it with both hands no further than half a metre toward the hoop.

The blunder has since been labelled the ‘worst half court shot in history.

Fortunately for her, her name was not recorded. Otherwise, is the worst shot ever what you would want to be known for on the Internet? Maybe she just thought “any publicity is good publicity. We’ll see in her case – it doesn’t work for everyone.

Check out her attempt on video below.
