Jeff Flake for Governor?

With Arizona Democrat Governor Janet Napolitano resigning to take a cabinet position with the Obama Administration, the 2010 election now looks wide open and maybe just a little more friendly to a Republican win.

For staters, Arizona’s new “interim” Governor is a Republican, as secretary of state Jan Brewster assumed the post, and is expected to run in 2010 for a full-term. But other candidates are emerging and Brewster may find herself facing a primary challenge next year.

Two of the stronger candidates are Congressman Jeff Flake and anti-illegal immigration Sherrif Joe Arpaio, who is fast approaching legend status for his tireless work in almost single handedly fighting against the invastion of illegal immigrants along the Arizona border, especially when he did not get any help from the previously mentioned Democrat Governor and Republican Senator’s John McCain and Jon Kyl, amnesty friendly one and all.

Flake is also friendly to “Comprehensive Immigration” Reform, which is disappointing, but he is one of the strongest fiscal conservatives elected today and that may be a huge factor for Arizona voters next year before they make a decision on who to vote for.
