Judge REFUSES Attempt To Stop Transfer Of Internet Oversight! – VIDEO

The push by leading Texas Republicans to give a final go around to block the withdrawal of US control over Internet domain names has failed and it failed by the word of one Judge.

On Friday, a federal district judge in Texas refused a legal objection to prevent the long-planned action. That means supervision and control of the nonprofit Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN, will be handed over to private global stakeholders Saturday as planned.

U.S. District Judge George C. Hanks Jr. of Galveston spoke to the Houston Chronicle Friday and proclaimed that there wasn’t enough evidence that the transfer would be ‘harmful’.

The decision made by Judge Hanks is a major blow to the efforts of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz to stop what they’ve coined as an “Internet giveaway.” The lawsuit by Texas and other states had sought to apply a legal hand brake action to try and force renewal of the contract before it expired.

Paxton spokesman Marc Rylander gave a statement, claiming they would “continue to weigh our options as the suit moves forward. It’s a dire day in our country when the president is allowed to unilaterally give away America’s pioneering role in ensuring that the Internet remains a place where free expression can flourish.”

An ICANN spokesman wouldn’t comment on the subject, but U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson filed a blistering 26-page brief Friday defending the transfer, somehow correlating that further control over the Internet would lead to ‘openness of the Internet’.

“The planned transition will preserve the stability, security, and openness of the Internet. Plaintiffs are seeking to interfere with that transition, creating the possibility that Internet governance will be disrupted and damaged as a result.”

Now there’s some political speak that explains absolutely nothing. Platitudes. Further platitudes from the US government, controlling the conversation, painting the internet as in danger of losing it’s freedom, yet it does just that.

There’s a special place in Hell for these lying government officials…
