Kit-Kat Released What Is Already Being Called The Most Disgusting Flavor Of All Time

When I was a kid, I loved Kit-Kat bars. The jingle stuck in my head and the crispy and chocolatey goodness was one of my favorites in my Halloween bucket each year. However, Kit-Kat has come out with a new flavor that might forever tarnish my memory of the candy: melon and cheese. Yes… really!

From the Mirror:

Kit Kat has launched perhaps the most bizarre chocolate snack ever – Melon & Cheese flavour! Would you dare to try it?

Kit Kat has launched a bizarre new chocolate bar which might leave even Willy Wonka scratching his head and asking: ‘Why?’

The new Melon & Cheese-flavoured four-fingered snack is being sold at airports in Japan and, if successful, is expected to be rolled out further afield.

The ‘Hokkaido Melon with Mascarpone Cheese’ chocolate-coated wafer biscuit bar – to give it its full title – is also being tested on sale alongside other Kit Kat flavours: ‘Japanese Strawberry’ and ‘Uji Matcha’, which is a type of tea.

It is understood to be made using genuine melon and the Mascarpone cheese powder sandwiched between its wafers and then drizzled in white chocolate.

Initial online response to the new brand so far is largely negative, with Twitter users reacting to the idea with tweets saying: ‘gross’, ‘ewww?’, ‘no, just no’ and ‘proves there is no God’.

Nobody claims to have actually tasted one yet… or at least will admit to it.

But there may be hope, with one user @superrobertson saying: “Melon and cheese flavoured Kit Kat is so insane i would actually buy one and try it… imagine if it was good?”

The bar was originally invented in York, England, as “Rowntree’s Chocolate Crisp” in 1935 and later renamed Kit Kat.

Nestle bought Rowntree’s in 1988 which has since gone on to launch a variety of new Kit Kat flavours globally, especially in Japan where its range has included ginger ale, soy sauce and creme brulee.

In the meantime Brits will have to make do with boring old Orange, Dark and Mint flavours alongside the classic original.

I understand the need for companies to innovate. Go with a “s’mores” flavor. Go with a “cinnamon roll” flavor.

But melons and cheese? That not only exceeds beyond the bounds of my comfort zone, that sounds downright disgusting!

Do you agree?
