LGBT Rally Denies Help From Cop Because Of Her Uniform, Then Learn Who She Is… [VIDEO]

Safe spaces are completely out of control and have extended to the point that even what someone wears can call for some trigger warning to go down. That’s exactly what happend to this San Diego cop, but there is a minor detail that really throws a curve ball into the mix and earlier this month it happened to Officer Christine Garcia.

Garcia was asked by an LGBT group at a Transgender Day of Remembrance event to leave, even though she is herself transgendered. So why would a transgendered police officer be asked to leave an event she was there to protect? It was because she showed up to the event dressed in her police uniform.

This officer had just spent the day providing security for the Day of Awareness March. She was part of the squad undertaking the protection detail of the very people who would later turn her away. The folks in charge of the event told her “to leave because her uniform could upset others in attendance” according to reports.

What is really strange is that Garcia had been on the 12-person committee that prearranged security for the Day of Awareness.

Garcia is San Diego’s only openly transgender cop and is often praised for her efforts to battle for what she believes in.

Garcia explained how she came out:

“Telling 1,800 officers that I’m transgender, and not knowing how they were going to treat me, was my biggest obstacle, I really didn’t know if I was going to lose all respect from them.”

Turns out, she didn’t lose any. In fact, “a flood of support from colleagues — some of whom she had never spoken to before. A lot of them came to me and said, ‘You know what, you’re a good cop, and that’s all that matters’… It was very inspiring to me.”

What is less exalting is the thought that a cop uniform could inspire such unwarranted discrimination. It had to really sting when those who may have been accustomed to discrimination, had in this case, been the perpetrators of that same treatment to others who were there to protect them.
