Massachusetts teens suspended for controversial homecoming photo carrying pellet guns

So if the caption on the Facebook photo read Bonnie and Clyde they wouldn’t be suspended? Once again gun-fearing Liberals overreact and make a silly decision.

teens[1]KHOU[2] reports a Facebook photograph has created a major controversy at a suburban Boston high school and left two students suspended.

The photo shows two high school sweethearts, Jamie Pereira and Tito Velez, standing in a living room, each holding large airsoft guns, and dressed as if they are about to go out. The pair is smiling and the caption beneath the photograph reads “Homecoming 2014.”

The teens have since been given 10-day suspensions from Bristol Regional Technical High School. The two said they often play with pellet guns with friends locally.

Additionally, they said the photo was taken by Tito’s father at home – on private property. In comments beneath the photograph, they also point out that the guns were not real weapons. The guns only shoot plastic pellets.

“We took them with the airsoft guns because it’s our hobby, and we wanted to include them,” Pereira told New England Cable News.

School superintendent Dr. Richard Gross told NECN his problem was not with the guns themselves. He said he defends free speech, but has a problem with the “Homecoming” caption.

“When you tie that to a school event, that’s something to be concerned about,” Gross said.
“It’s not like it happened at school. We had the guns [at home] and that’s where the pictures were taken and they said it didn’t matter,” Pereira told Boston NBC station WHDH. “I guess the school took that as a threat, but we didn’t mean it in a threatening way.”

These types of suspensions accomplish nothing other than demonstrating Liberals irrational fear of guns. They should worry more about the irrational people they create with their views instead.
