Math Adds Up, Trump Was RIGHT, USPS Undercharges Amazon – This Is HUGE!

President Trump tweeted on Friday where he called out Amazon and the United States Postal Service for not charging Amazon enough to deliver their packages.

“Why is the United States Post Office, which is losing many billions of dollars a year, while charging Amazon and others so little to deliver their packages, making Amazon richer and the Post Office dumber and poorer? Should be charging MUCH MORE!” Trump said in his Friday tweet.

Trump claimed that the USPS is losing billions of dollars in his tweet. This is certainly accurate. In 2016 alone, USPS announced $5.6 billion in net losses and a $2.7 billion net loss in 2017. The previous decade of 2007-2017 shows the postal service in the red for more than $65 billion. This is just another agency that wastes our taxpayer dollars and is destroyed by lack of competition, government bloat and political corruption. It’s time for a major overhaul or ultimatum.

This is exactly the sentiment of a proposed bipartisan bill that would relieve some of the restrictions set in place by Congress in 2006. “Once enacted, and together with aggressive management actions, the Postal Service can meet all of our obligations and continue to improve the way we serve the American public,” said Postmaster General Megan Brennan in testimony to Congress. I will believe it when I see it. There is no incentive for government to do anything cost effectively, so why should they bother?

This guy gets it:

Another element in the mix with all of this is the rate that the Postal Service is charging Amazon to deliver packages. A Citigroup analysis in July of 2017 found that it should be charging at least $1.46 per package more than what they are currently charging Amazon. That is a lot of money. My household alone gets dozens of Amazon packages per year. I don’t want to be subsidizing the Post Office at all, but it really grinds my gears when my tax dollars are subsidizing private companies like Amazon as well. It’s time to get rid of the Postal Service once and for all. Do you think it’s a good idea?
