Operation “Stand Up For Rachel Lucas”

by John Hawkins | November 12, 2008 9:54 am

Although I’d be shocked if any of them admitted it, liberals regularly try to drive conservative women out of politics. They criticize their looks, their children, aim the foulest insults at them, photoshop them into porn, threaten to rape them and do anything and everything they can to intimidate them out of politics. In other words, what happened to Sarah Palin? Well, it happens to any conservative woman who sticks her head up in politics — and guess what? The Left’s tactics often work, which is why they keep doing it.

The latest example of it is Rachel Lucas[1]. Here’s an excerpt from a post she wrote today,

I’m won’t go into details because I know that all these f*cknuts want is attention and a fight, but ever since about two weeks before the election, I’ve been bombarded with trolls. Every day, there they are in the moderation queue, little stinkbomb drive-by insults. “Have fun losing, you ignorant dipsh*t” on the pre-election threads. “Haha, f*ck you, YOU LOST!!!!” on the day-after-election thread. “Good riddance,” on the moving-to-UK thread. Much more personal and downright creepy stuff on various other threads.

And that’s just here. Liberal sites link over here and dang, you should see the comments on their threads. Apparently I’m a raging psychotic dog-abusing gun-humper. I actually read a comment last week that said, “All Lucas ever does is blog about guns. Guns, guns, guns. She’s f*ckin’ crazy.” Nevermind that I have precisely 12 posts about guns in over a year and a half. I’m craaaazzzyyy!

All of this because I don’t vote the same way they do, or I don’t write in the particular style they most enjoy, or they just think I’m a dumb*ss.

…I’ve said it before but you’ll believe me in another few weeks or months when I stick to it, but I’m not blogging about politics anymore. It’s not fun, and I don’t do sh*t for free that isn’t fun. If you’re one of those people who gets a kick out of p*ssing off your opponent, good for you, but I’m not like you. I don’t get any pleasure out of knowing that there are strangers out there who loathe me. Maybe I would if I was blogging anonymously, but as you can see, I’m not.

I beg you, no pity party in the comments, this isn’t about me suffering or feeling “besieged by hate”. I know 99% of the people reading this are wonderful, kindhearted individuals who want the best for me and for everyone else, and I appreciate that a whole lot, but remember, I’ve been doing this a long time and I know the minute I hit publish on any politics post, I am just asking for harsh criticism or even abuse by those who disagree. Also, my lovely friend Dogette has me covered on troll control, and has talked me down from any and all emotional ledges already several times in the last week or so. I’m good to go.

And don’t even go there with “don’t let them shut you up!” That’s just silly. “They” aren’t shutting me up, I’m shutting me up about this particular thing, politics. Like the title says, I have the right to remain silent. I’d say anything I wanted if I enjoyed controversy and being flamed and being called names and dealing with a constant stream of trolls and *ssholes, not to mention watching my own commenters go for each others’ throats when they disagree.

Yeah, Rachel, they are shutting you up and that’s a shame. Rachel Lucas is one of the most talented writers I have ever seen and she has a gift for cutting to the heart of a matter with her incisive wit — and for taking humiliating pictures of her dogs.

If I could talk Rachel into reconsidering, I would, but I don’t think I can persuade her alone. So, here’s what I want you do: I want you to write Rachel an email at rachel -AT- rachellucas.com . If you are sick and tired of seeing liberals assault conservative women, write an email. If you didn’t like what the left did to Sarah Palin, write an email. If you don’t want to see a unique, talented conservative woman muffled by liberals, write an email.

Tell her how much you appreciate her writing, tell her how good she is at it, and tell her not to let the left shut her up. Rachel Lucas is a brilliant voice and it would a shame if she was intimidated into silence by the left. So, speak up if you ever want to hear Rachel write about politics again…
