This young man chose to go from college student to being jailed for death threats in a matter of days. Who is it that threatened to shoot black people? What do you think of the identity of this person? Read on to see the surprising twist to this story.
A Delta College student could face up to 20 years in prison because of threats he allegedly made to “shoot every black person” on the Saginaw Valley State University campus in Michigan.
And there’s a twist that should make every “Black Lives Matter” protester out there pause — the student himself is black.
Police arrested Emmanuel D. Bowden, 21, on Nov. 17. Charges against Bowden include making a false report or threat of terrorism, according to Michigan Live. It is a felony with a 20-year sentence, if convicted. However, this case is unique because Bowden is African-American.
Bowden, who lives on the SVSU campus in student housing with 12 other Delta College students, said he made the inciting comments on social media as a joke. The posts were published just after midnight Nov. 13 on the anonymous social media app Yik Yak.
“I’m going to shoot every black person I can on campus. Starting tomorrow morning,” the post read.

The post received negative comments in return, so the original poster gave an answer to the comments.
“It’s a joke. I’m black,” Bowden allegedly wrote. “I was going to give it an hour to see how you all would react.”
Law enforcement didn’t find humor in the situation. The post was flagged by campus police and sent to the FBI for investigation, which led authorities to Bowden. He was arrested inside a residence hall on campus on a warrant that states he threatened “to commit an act of terrorism and did communicate that threat to another person,” Michigan Live reported.
Bowden remains in jail on $10,000 bond. He also has another case involving credit-card related issues pending and bond for that case is set for $4.500, reports said.
Why would a student choose to foolishly throw away, potentially, the next twenty years of his life in jail? What did he think was going to happen? And if black lives matter, why didn’t they matter enough to him NOT to threaten them on social media? This is yet another sad story of a person who thinks he’s above the law, that he can issue death threats “as a joke” (newsflash…no one’s laughing) and not pay the price. Respect for black lives and all lives, starts with individuals of every color. Sadly, this young black man showed no respect for life.
