Pup Found Abandoned with Suitcase in Scotland
This poor abandonded pooch is probably the most heartbreaking thing you will read all day. This beautiful boy was abandoned in a train station. But don’t worry, they left all of his things in a suitcase next to him:
A Scottish animal charity is appealing for information after an abandoned dog was found along with a suitcase at Ayr railway station. The dog, a male shar-pei crossbreed called Kai according to his microchip, was waiting tied to a railing according to the SPCA. In his bag were a pillow, toy, food bowl and some food.
“We contacted the owner registered to the microchip, who stated they had sold Kai on Gumtree in 2013. Unfortunately they could not tell us the address of the person who bought him,” Inspector Stewart Taylor from the charity said.
“Regardless of the fact Kai was left with his belongings, this was still a cruel incident and we are keen to identify the person responsible. If anyone can help we would ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.”
Kai is around two to three years old, and is “a lovely dog with a nice nature”, the charity say. They’ve pledged to look after him until a home can be found.
Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 and anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
“This case highlights the potential consequences of selling an animal online as it often leads to the impulse buying of pets that people know very little about,” the SPCA added.
Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999
Seriously, what kind of jerk does this to an innocent animal? Obviously, there are shelters that would have taken him in. There are ways to rehome your animal without abandoning them at a railway station. Let’s all hope this loser is tracked down and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Glad you’re safe, Kai, and wishing you a happy forever home.
