Q&A Friday #100: The Post Office Dropping From 6 To 5 Days.
Question: “John, what are your thoughts on the proposed changes to the U.S. Postal Service in the wake of reduced volume of mail and reduced revenues? Do you think it is a smart idea for them to continue to punish the very people still using their service in order to survive?
And as a follow-up question, do you think they will survive?” — StanW
Answer: I think it’s highly ironic, yet surprisingly typical of liberalism, that President Government, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid want to go 800 billion dollars further into debt to fund every worthless liberal project under the sun while a basic government service, like the post office, is saying that they’re going to have to cut back to 5 days a week because they’re running out of money. Of course, the post office won’t actually run out of money because President Obama will just dole out a few more billion dollars. It’s not like it’s his money, right?
As to displeasing their customers: government agencies care about pleasing the bureaucrats who give them money, not the actual customers that they serve. If you want customer service or efficiency, you have to look to private companies because they only survive by pleasing the customer or, alternately in the socialist nightmare we’re being thrust into, by getting a bailout from DC.
PS: Yes, the post office will survive — at least until YOU run out of money that the government can confiscate.
